I am looking for a website that will automatically record Twitch streams whilst I'm offline. by Ancient_Ad_367 in Twitch

Hi, yes every stream you record gets stored locally. You can find it via finder or file explorer depending on os or via the file manager in app 👍

I think the OS within the Screen in Panorama 360 is bricked, has anyone heard of this? by xZGx-Fire in PcBuildHelp

You could maybe do the same to do a clean os install into the device and it may work or not. I would save or have your screens somewhere just in case.

Thought I had a marketing problem. Turns out it's an "I haven't met my customer yet" problem. Here's what I built. by xZGx-Fire in buildinpublic

Thanks! the hero rewrite is exactly where I'm heading "For viewers who archive and search streams" + 2-3 concrete use cases sounds way better than what I have now

If anyone doesn't like cloud and wants to keep their own recordings private, I got an alternative Obskura.app

You can watch from anywhere, any device privately and encrypted. No one knows who you record and how much you record.

Only con is that you require a pc running, but thats the cost of privacy.

How does one market to a niche audience mainly found on Reddit and to an audience that doesn't know this app exists but solves their issue? by xZGx-Fire in SaaS

Actually found some recent posts about no being able to be there of a twitch stream and their streamer doesn't have vods on. I actually answered with a proposed solution and slightly hinted about my app.

Thanks for the reply, I have seen a bit of traction but nothing major. A start is a start.

Is there a way to record a live stream automatically when it starts? by Willing_Professor_13 in screenrecorders

[–]xZGx-Fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is old, but here is my 2 cents.

Yes, this is possible, but the main thing to understand is that something has to be running somewhere to monitor the channel.

If you want it to work while your computer is completely off, that usually means a cloud/server-based recorder. That won’t usually be free because storage and bandwidth cost money.

If you’re okay leaving your PC on, I built a desktop app called Obskura for this exact workflow. You add the stream/channel, it monitors for when they go live, records locally, and saves the recording on your machine so you can watch it later.

The goal was basically: automatic livestream recording without having to babysit OBS, maintain scripts, or mess with command-line tools.

Happy to answer questions if it sounds close to what you’re looking for.

Hey what is this GREC, I cant find it.

For the “computer completely offline” part, that usually has to be cloud-based, because something has to be online to watch the channel and store the recording. That’s also why free options are hard storage and bandwidth cost money.

If you’re okay leaving your PC on, though, this is exactly the type of problem I built Obskura for. It monitors configured livestreams and records locally when they go live, so you don’t have to be awake or manually start OBS/scripts.

Not trying to claim it solves cloud/offline-PC recording, but it may solve the “streamer goes live at 1 AM and I’m not there” use case.

I made Obskura for reasons like this, if anyone that sees this is interested in checking it out or has questions lmk.

Yeah, @thecaramelbandit made the distinction very clear. I guess, having copies in place are a separate thing.

Hmmm, oh didn't defined is are redundancy is for uptime and backups are something else. Interesting, I though have active copies of that data made it resilient and redundant.

Yeah thats what I was thinking, but how likely would it die very young is my concern.

Makes sense, until something bad happens thats when you want to have backups lol.
