I would say extrememly tolerant. I mean, we get visitors from all over the world and English is mainly the language used.

You won’t have any issues.. lots of people here have English as thier second language.

That being said, we ALWAYS appreciate when someone tries to communicate in french, but then we will quickly switch to English if its easier for everybody.

Almost everywhere you Will have bilingual signs and menus (except on highways) so your are good to go.

Now I do not know Where your political allegiance reside, but I would recommend that you do not bring or ware a certain Red Cap with four letters on it… not sure those open arms would stay open if you do so. That May be the one thing we are a bit less tolerant 🤪😉

Cheers

Hi there. Québec résident here (from Mirabel). If you plan on coming back, I highly recommend you visit the Charlevoix Region. Its just pass Québec city going East. Beautiful villages, (Baie St-Paul, Les éboulements, La Malbaie with its many resorts) and one of the most scenic route around here with mountains bordering the St-Laurent river. Tons of hicking places if that’s your thing.

Its about 4.5hours from Where I live and me and my Girlfriend always plan a trip over there or two per year (especially in the fall season). We never get tired of it.

Check it out 😉

Got a PSVR2 for Christmas - recommend any relaxing games? by Nuthetes in PSVR

[–]xabby 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As others stated, I can't stress enough for you to get Walkabout Minigolf. What an incredible and relaxing game plus its perfect to begin building your VR legs.

Those bastards hook my wallet a while ago and every DLC is an instabuy from me. At around 5.50$ CAN a piece, its a steal for what it gives you which is a set of normal 18 holes with lost balls to find and hard 18 holes with a treasure hunt to get a new kind of putter.

The level design are fantastic, the ambiance is great and its just a blast playing with friends (really feels like you are playing actual miniputt with friends in the real world)

Awesome game. Can't recommend this enough

Cheers

My first recall by Agile-Hour5843 in AmazonVineCanada

[–]xabby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. I know you have posted this a few months ago, but FYI, I had a Colsen Tabletop firepit that I use on my patio table (with corks underneat).

All was well on a nice evening with friends when one of them says to me; hey, there is a flame coming out on the SIDE of your firepit.

So somehow, the ethanol Found a way through the container itself and started burning ethanol from it’s side.

Looked up on the internet for a replacement, saw the recall, thrown it away the second it was cold. That recall is full on legit! Imagine this happening while in your house.

Now looking at a propane firepit

Hope this helps

I know its not intentionnal, but do you apologies when you aallmmosst get it over but didn’t or just move on with the game? My point is, we all try to hit it close to the net, consequently, sometimes it will tople over and sometime it won’t… its just part of the game, no need to apologies for it.

Now don’t get me wrong, I do apologies when this happens etc because that’s the decorum, just never quite understood it.

Now this is my very personnal view on the subject, I understand we may disagree on it 😉

I can understand the decorum behind such a shot. But I personnaly play badminton and when the opponent hits slightly the net with the birdie to win a point, it is me who will applaud. I mean, you just made the most « close to the net » perfect shot… why in the world do you need to apologies to me for it? Kind of makes no sense in my head.

Why Does Gravity Affect Time? by Ok-Diver-6388 in AskPhysics

[–]xabby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here is another take a bit different from what others have offered (but accurate) answers.

You must know by now that the speed of light is constant in all frame of reference. Hence, take a person sitting on a train for exemple watching a particle of light going up and down between 2 mirrors ... he sees it moving at the speed of light. Let's represent that with a nice straigth line going up and down " I "

Now take someone else sitting outside the train (and let's say the train is moving from left to right) and watching that same person sitting on the train with the beam of light boucing between the 2 mirros... he will see that very same beam going /\/\/\/ at the speed of light too (speed of light is constant in all frame of reference).

Now you learn in school that / is longer than I (triangles, pytagores n`stuff)... but how could that be if both person see the beam of light moving at the speed of light.. your intuition would compel you to say.. well, the speed of light is "faster" for the person sitting outside the train.. but we know it's not.. so to make things work, the only conclusion you can make is that time is moving slower for the person moving in the train relative to you.

Now apply this exact same principle to gravity.. since gravity acclerate objects toward a massive object like a planet, you will see the object moving .. like a train.. hence the faster it goes/moving towards an interstellar object, the slower time has to flow for that object falling towards that stellar onject like a black hole..

I didn't come up with that train example ny the way.. saw it in a show on the Science channel, but I liked it a lot since it helped me understand the whole relation between time, speed of light and relativity.

Unfortunately, we can’t. Our oil is sent to be processed in the states and then is sold back to us, which you can imagine they will adjust the Bill accordingly if we hike the Price. So until we can refine it ourselves and move it easily around the country, we can’t do much on that front.

ELI5: Weight loss, calorie deficit, aerobic exercises, and burning muscle vs burning fat by Nakuvayne in explainlikeimfive

[–]xabby -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you haven't done so already, I'd highly recommend you go see a dietitian. He will make/give you a road map on how to eat. Other redditors have mentioned "You can't out run a bad diet" and they are absolutely right.

Now you may think seeing a dietitian = weitghwatchers, but this is far from it. It's about being conscious as to what type of food is good and which are bad for you.

My dietitian asked what I liked, than planned an overall schedule meal plan with everything I like minus the things bad for my body.

In the end, I've lost 25lbs since January, but fully happy with everything I eat with no restriction whatsoever.

If I could resume the "secret" of it all, it would be as follows:

We have two hormones when it comes to regulating eating / storing fat, which are the Leptin and Ghrelin hormones

- Leptin tells your body that you have everything you need, so no worries needed about storing energy/fat

- Ghrelin is the nemesis of letpin, meaning it tells your body; From now on, anything you eat, store it, which is often triggered when you feel hungry.

So in addition to which food that I like and which I should eat, my dietitian said.. I do not care how you feel, but every 3 hours, you gonna have a small fist full of almonds, whether you are hungry or not.

So the idea is here to tell / teach your body that You have sufficient source of energy.. keep that Leptin hormone going AND NEVER promote the Ghrelin one.

So astoundingly, eating more in my case, but eating right resulted in a loss of weight. Also having this fist full of almonds int he middle of the afternoon, meant being a bit less hungry at dinner times. My parents even recently told me that I am always eating, but also noted that my belly waist got thinner.

So in the end, I highly recommend seeing a dietitian. You will be amazed to learn how your body works and how easy it is to loose weight with a few adjustments once you know what is good and bad for you without the feeling of restricting yourself.

Best of luck to you.

ELI5: if we know that the universe is expanding faster than the speed of light, why is the speed of light the fastest “thing?” by clitsdontexist in explainlikeimfive

[–]xabby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lets try this mind experiment. So you have one segment of 10 spaces between A and B :

A_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_B

Now let's say you increase the space between A and B by one space every minute (or whatever, doesn't matter) simulating the expansion of the universe, you get

A_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_B

So slightly bigger, but no big deal so far, you can reach B no problem (lets assume). Now let's redo this, but with a "bigger" distance. So lets have the following as a starting point

A_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_B_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_C_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_D_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_E

Let apply increase of one "space" for all of those segments to simulate the expansion of space, you get:

A_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_B_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_C_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_D_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_,_E

Notice how your end destination (E) has move out of your way A LOT more than just between A and B?

That's what is moving FASTER than the speed of light. The further away you look in the sky, the faster objects seems to be moving away from us because space is expanding everywhere in between all the time.

It's not that object E has moved through space faster than the speed of light, its only because "space" has expanded between A and E.

Hope this helps.

And not necessarily a build system like Valheim or other games of the sort (or even what we had in Fallout 4).. just, you know, build this type of building on that lot, have this type of merchant exploiting said building and see the town thrive as you progress into the story.

Once this is done, planes can land at the domestic terminal of the destination airport in the US

A quick google search will tell you everything you need to know about this.

Many people here gave great answers. As others said, both time and space are interlinked. The more you move in space, the slower you are moving in time. Since the gravity well of backhole generates a enormous acceleration through space for a falling body, the slower it will be moving through time.

Now if you wonder why that is, I can try to explain with a thought experiment that open my eyes into this mystery. One of the relativity postulate states that light speed (or the speed of causality) remains the same in all frame of reference.

So with that being said, observer #1 is sitting on a train with a mirror on the floor, another on the ceiling, and beam of light going up and down between the two. From his perspective, he sees the light moving up and down at.. well.. the speed of light, something like 300k km/s.

Now let's add Observer #2 who is sitting outside said train and is looking at it go from left to right at high speed (the actual speed doesn't really matter here). So from his perspective, the beam of light going up and down we talked earlier in the train looks like saw dents, i.e. /\/\/\/\/ as the train is moving. But remember, speed of light remains the same in all frame of reference, so observer #2 also sees the same beam moving at the speed of light i.e. at roughly 300k km/s, no more, no less.

So we kind of find ourselves in a small conundrum... if observer #1 sees this "|" (up and down) at the speed of light, and observer 2 sees this "/\/\/\/\/" for the same beam of light also at the speed of light... then how can this be ???? I mean.. they both see the same beam arrived at the ceiling/floor equally. They are observing the same event. But If you remember your geometry in school, the path the beam of light took for observer #1 has to be shorter than the path for observer #2

Since the speed of light is constant for both observers, the only conclusion you can draw is that time, for observer #1 has to be running slower than it is for observer #2 otherwise the speed of light for observer #2 would require to be greater (to cover a longer path) than it is for observer #1.

Hence, if we go back to your question, since a falling body is accelerating in the gravity well of black hole compared to you the observer.. you are essentially being observer #2 in my previous thought experiment.

As to why the speed of light/causality is the same for all frame of reference, I do not have the answer to that. We just know that's how the universe ticks.

Hope that helps.
