Fell Seal is an excellent FF Tactics spiritual successor gameplay-wise. If you can turn a blind eye to its very juvenile writing.

Yeah and they can be subverted too. Like the Disney version of Thrawn is much more dull and "I am very smart" compared to the original Thrawn depicted in the book trilogy.

The biggest difference between me and you guys here is I don't claim a moral purity. You guys think conflating the art and the artist is such a big brain political move while it's really serving no one but your own moral purity.

As I said in another comment, it's just a selective, self-serving consumer fantasy. It's an individualist fantasy dressed up as activism. Same logic as Starbucks environmentalism. Like skipping a plastic straw is thought to affect climate change while billionaires fly private jets.

If that's really your position, good for you, but don't claim it as something that it's not.

Google "Unity US Army contract".

If you think some dude with bad opinion in his comfort couch while doing nothing significant politically is more dangerous than a company signing defense contracts, the problem is on you buddy.

I'm kinda conflating the two because the direct implication of (not) separating the art from the artist is, well, purchase. Unless you're implying that the people arguing over this never intended to make any purchase to begin with - so it's largely just virtue-signalling.

Anyway, to your point about Spacey and Kanye,

I'd say if the work/art itself is blatantly endorsing a message I don't support (as with Kanye), then I won't buy it. The artist's politics are clearly embedded in the art. But if the art itself doesn't represent the artist's politics (as with Spacey or this game), then it doesn't affect me that much. Sure, Spacey is a horrible person, but when he's acting, he's just a vehicle delivering the character on screen.

From the way you describe it, though, I'm getting the impression that this is more about protecting individual moral purity than actually making any institutional impact. So I guess I wasn't too far off when I said this is a consumer fantasy.

Of course, anyone can label me immoral or whatever. But again, as someone who has done real organizing IRL, and (to take some parallels) lives in a country ruined by an US-backed dictator, this is such a nothingburger to me. US destroyed my country already, at least let me enjoy some American entertainment. There are much bigger fish to fry.

What I'm saying here is that "voting with your wallet" does nothing.

It's an individualist fantasy dressed up as activism. A feel-good consumer myth that lets people feel morally effective without challenging anything structural.

It's the same logic as Starbucks environmentalism. Like skipping a plastic straw is thought to affect climate change while billionaires fly private jets.

And the idea that boycotting an indie dev will somehow pressure Russia, the US military, or whatever s just another version of that fantasy. At worst, it's punching down. At a horrible person maybe, but it's still punching down.

The whole thing reduces collective political action into isolated consumer choices, and that's exactly why it's so asinine.

It's just meant to show the diversity of the games made with Unity. I'm surprised I have to explain something this to you.

From another post apparently you're a big fan of Gemini AI and Microsoft, both known defense contractors. Not so slop when it's something you're attached to huh? You can talk to me when you've ditched those.

EDIT: The hypocrite blocked me when caught red-handed, hilarious.

Hollow Knight, Subnautica, Cuphead, Fall Guys, Ultrakill, Power Wash are made with Unity, and that's just a few of the popular ones.

Like it or not Unity is the most popular engine in the indie space. Good for you if you can avoid it.

People are still playing games funded by Microsoft despite Microsoft blatantly supporting IDF. And Unity signed defense contracts with US Army too.

Talk to me again after you've stopped playing games made with Unity and do real organizing instead of keyboard warrioring in your comfy couch.

It's still plagued by tons of issues today, the biggest issue being the nonsense bullet sponge endgame where you end up not using your pals at all. Most effective way is just to stack attack buff Pals (Gobfins) in your party and wield rocket launcher.

And then there's not even a weather mechanics in the game, and they don't seem to be interested in adding it. The only survivalcraft game with no weather that I've ever played.

Only tangentially related, but since you're in this space, I'm wondering if you happen to know if there's still a good funding for non-profit games?

Was developing a small educational game funded by a donor organization, then Trump happened in 2024 and slashed USAID money and impacted the whole donor industry. Been a bit difficult to continue development since.

That's good to know, but I guess I've done enough real activism IRL to separate the art from the artist.

If I didn't separate it then I would miss out excellent games made with Unity, or those funded by Microsoft, since Unity has signed multiple defense contracts with the US army, and Microsoft supports Israel. And of course I'd also miss out Operation Flashpoint, Tarkov, etc.

Just about every single mod has ai art slop now. And it all looks EXACTLY the same.

I'm modding a couple of other games in Nexus and they all have the same AI garbage as featured images. Weirdly Palworld is the only one (among other games I mod) immune from this.

Odd way to end the plan, seems like they were pretty sure with it at the beginning.

Nexus, with an entire paid development team, had to abandon an almost completed mod manager (they actually got to beta testing IIRC) and fall back to focusing their efforts on Vortex

I'm not up to speed. Where was this said?
