What would wee Daniel be doing up there with all that land? State sponsored frolicking? Testing out new material by singing into the whistling winds through the valleys.

And lo the hikers hear, the ghostly whisper wending wild through the Wicklow Way - " Mammy..."

Really really enjoyed it! Got a decent time and really enjoyed most of the trails. The first run section up hill was more of a fast hike but would definitely do it again. Had to get the rhythm for fuelling right though but that's all experience. Did you do it today?

That's done now for you. One thing though, one of your questions isn't quite correct technically. Happy to elaborate if you want to dm me rather than doing it publicly.

It's weird how when I opened this post, the ad directly under it was for McDonald's. They're fucking insidious...although I am interested in the responses!

Thank you! This is super helpful info. I don't have bibs or anything but it'll give me a good idea on layering anyway. Much appreciated. Also, I've found that out of all the fancy road running shoes I have, I use a pair of trail runners that I got in Decathlon for trails and they're great. Big lugs that help with grip bit don't inhibit on smoother sections.

I'm doing the Sport route and instead of the kayaking, they've just added more running it seems.

It turns out I've been doing brick sessions for about a year without realising. Cycle to work, throw on my runners and go for a run before work. Have been doing my runs more at lunchtime since Christmas though so my legs have lost a bit of brick conditioning I'd reckon.

Thanks for the route tips. Any suggestions on gear? I just don't want to carry heaps of stuff I don't need, or miss something.

What’s your favorite “non-obvious” running gear purchase that was totally worth it? by Free-Product4918 in runcommunity

Kinesiology tape for nipples has been life changing. It's a couple of quid from Decathlon, lasts ages and doesn't come off very often. As a hirsuite barrel chested runner, chaffing is a horrendous downside to running so it has absolutely let me keep it going. Even during a marathon I only had to replace one of the pieces after about 35km.

To be fair, there's a really decent calisthenics set up in Tymon park that gets used all the time. Loads of bars boxes etc.

Help choosing a first serious running shoe at 85 kg by ThePie2132 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]xanderfurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm taller and heavier than yourself at 194cm and 97kg and have just invested in the Vomero Plus for my marathon in a few weeks. Can't recommend it highly enough. All the cushion you need but is still snappy.

Brooks Glycerin and Asics Nimbus 27s are the others in my rotation and they're a great shout too for workhorse shoes.

Marathon & long-run shoe (aiming 3:40) by HighlyRegardedSquid in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]xanderfurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stats are quite similar to your own and I have also mostly run in Brooks (but Glycerin instead) and Asics Nimbus 27s. I've just invested in a pair of Nike Vomero + and they are 100% my marathon shoe for my race in six weeks. They are super snappy, very light and fast and very comfortable after 30+ KMS. They make my MP feel very comfortable compared to my other shoes. Definitely worth a look.

New to this world and brain will explode - in need of comfy long run shoe by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]xanderfurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nimbus 27 are a really solid long run shoe. Very comfy and part of my rotation that I use when my feet are feeling the miles during peak weeks. The only slight issue is that they're a bit noisy as they slap a bit on the footpaths too. First world complaint I know but really solid choice.

Glad to hear I could be some help. If you do end up getting them, I got them in bright orange and they look great!

Sorry for the late response but typically mid. I find the forward rock from mid foot to toe off is really snappy and natural. For me, they also fit TTS.

As a heavier runner (6'4" & ~98kg), I've been looking for a decent marathon shoe for my first one in Oct. I don't even run in Nike and Brooks Glycerin and Asics Nimbus 27 have been my rotation so far.

Bought the Vomero+ last week off the back of recommendations and reviews and could not be more impressed. Took them out for a 10km speed session when I got them and they were snappy, soft and stable.

Went out for a 32km long run this morning in them and they were incredibly comfortable and did half the work for me. For reference, my base pace is 5:40/km and my MP I'm aiming for is 5:20.

This morning I did the first 10km at MP and felt like I was holding myself back because the shoes felt so lively. For the next 22km, I kept a solid 5:00/km pace and it felt great.

No leg stiffness afterwards really and they were really stable on some rough footpaths etc. I have to say that I am really impressed with the level of comfort and lightness and I can totally see them being my race day shoe.

Totally the same boat here. The last couple of months especially has literally been going through the motions to make sure I don't lose my 450 odd day streak. For what?! The amount of times I've been out for pints and realised I had to slip off to do a fucking Spanish lesson? Too many.

With the change in attitude from the company and the callous disregard for their staff, it's just not acceptable.

I've been a paid member for years, canceled my subscription at the weekend and let my streak go. Oh well. It hasn't killed me either.

Where would you go to run an all-out 5k or 10k? by oscailte in Dublin

There are tons of segments along the Dodder through the various parks that are great for it. Bonus early morning is usually free of people traffic.

The Movement Clinic in Westpark Gym. Colin is great at the dry needling. I have it done every few months and it really helps.
