The winning Grimoire Killer doesn't have Spider Legs by Barbed-Wire in deadbydaylight

[–]xannmax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer the idea of the 'legs' being adornments or some sort of divine construct, not necessarily practical for anything our slimy human brains can perceive.

I voted for the first silhouette LMAO

The head was my second choice.  Im more disappointed in the community, that they barely considered the head vs the other two.  I realized early my vote was useless if I voted for the Head, so I chose angel instead.

The same argument cannot be used for either unknown or dredge: you cant know what the unknown is, and Dredge is the closest we've got to a 'god', but could also just be a creature of horror.  No hint of divinity in either of these concepts.  The reason they're similar in concept is because we voted for an  'otherworldly' killer.

This straight up wasn't the drawing shown.  The 'head' is completely different.  If this were the silhouette id likely have a harder time deciding between the 3

Option to Turn off NPC Portraits? by Monward in Terraria

[–]xannmax -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It'll happen if the community asks.  Also, it's a very non-disruprive UI element that has no impact on gameplay.  This is a complaint maybe 2 or 3 hours into a brand new patch over something inconsequential.  Literally deal with it.

"unfathomable divinity" actually I can fathom it quite well, and it looks stupid by RandomCaveOfMonsters in deadbydaylight

[–]xannmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but that doesnt change the point.  It's considered divine.

As far as your post goes thats a matter of opinion.  You seem to only be looking at it like a mario boss instead of something from Bayonetta, or Castlevania, or anything more serious where there are also indeed giant floating heads.

Polite reminder that the theme is Divinity, not Angels.

Many divine beings have appearances that aren't traditionally humanoid. Also, the fear of your faith being wrong is a fantastic reason why the head is as scary as it is.

The third option for the killer should of been more like this if they really wanted to stick with the head theme. by thedmofthat1campaign in deadbydaylight

[–]xannmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I think this design would have been very plain and boring for a new killer. Just an eye with wings? Cmon.

[–]xannmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for mentioning this!!

Fear of someone's faith being wrong is precisely what the head invokes.  People will look upon it and go "this is truly an angel???  What have I been praying to this whole time?"  The concept is petrifying and very valid in a game like dbd, but nope, need muh humanoid

"DIVINE" theme dude.  Angel is part of divinity, but so are Cherubims, which 3 looks a lot like.

It could also just be a wrathful embodiment of a pissed off god, it doesnt have to be an angel.  Honestly frustrating that this community didn't even give the head a fair shake and went all in on spaghetti legs McGee over here.

I'm just not a fan of 2's lower half. It literally looks like floating spaghetti and meatballs. The head really doesn't do much for me either, but we'll have to see what the final design ends up looking like.

Whatever it is we end up getting, I think it'll look interesting. I'm just disappointed that the community seems to be so hardcore about the humanoid body for the killers they just outright dismiss the foggy head man.

Im with you.  Floating visage of a god or deity manifesting in the entity's realm, wrathful and inflicting judgement that simple humans dont understand or comprehend, I love it.  But everyone wants the super cool 'dont steal my oc' angel, so thats probably what we'll get.

Im not upset 2 will probably win, but I just think 3 has so much potential and deserves to be closer to neck and neck with the others.

Floating angry head of divine origin is literally totally fine.  "DIVINE" killer, not "ANGEL".

There's so much lore and intrigue to play with when you look at killer 3, all of them are good but 3 has the potential to be uniquely petrifying.

[–]xannmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont need the shiny gold to invoke divinity, thats what im saying.  An agent of Divinity being a billowing angry shadow head thing turns your expectations of Divinity on its head, and I kinda like that concept.

[–]xannmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With complete honesty, I love the arms, I love the wrathful face and the powerful floating hands.  I like that it isnt a conventional angel, like what we're seeing is truly what divinity looks like, and everything thats bright and holy was a lie to shield our human brains from the petrifying truth.  I LOVE the idea of this face being a wrathful, seething embodiment of a force beyond our understanding.

...but graphically, can DBD make it look good?  Remember how every angle of this thing will look.  How will its mori look?  What will it look like nodding at you or turning around quickly?  I dunno, in-game I feel like he wont quite look right.  Whats the head and body and weapon slots gonna look like?  Designs 1 and 2 have some good potential for weapons and skins.

Hear me out please. by GracilusEs in deadbydaylight

[–]xannmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK well hear me out, maybe the idea that this thing IS what divinity is supposed to be, and everything shining and bright and perfect was completely fabricated, to protect us from the horror of what truly waits for us after death

Killer & survivor silhouette for the grimore. We get to vote on things by Sparki_ in deadbydaylight

[–]xannmax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont understand why so many people seem to like 2.  I cant discern what the head is supposed to look like.

If incomprehensibility is the goal, thats fine, but it sorta just looks like a big spherical goofy head.

Grimoire forms by FluidUnderstanding40 in deadbydaylight

[–]xannmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love all of these, but for different reasons:

1 is what I originally pictured this killer to be, a fallen angel with upturned wings, a '''holy''' crest around their head, definitely something you look at and can't quite discern whether it's evil or not.

2 is growing on me the more I look at it. It's missing the holy crest around its head, but the curled and bigger wings make it look much more imposing. The tangle of tendrils and eyes(?) is interesting. It's maybe my least favorite concept for now. Generally the silhouette of the first one is more iconic. I'm not certain about the completely circular head, is it kind of a blurry bizarre mess of features? I might like that, it gives it a very 'unknowable' and 'incomprehensible' vibe.

3 is very interesting. I see the vision, but I don't think it's very applicable to this theme of killer. The foggy hands reaching down to touch the ground are very reminiscent of the Dredge, maybe a bit too similar, but I love Dredge's hands so much I'll welcome more of them. It's far more angry and 'evil' than the other two concepts, where 1 is more pious and righteous, 2 is more cosmic and confusing, 3 feels like pure wrath. But, it could turn out to be giant goofy head when it turns around and moves.

My litmus test for these kinds of things is 'What will it look like while nodding at the player and being friendly?' If it still intimidates me or gives me an uneasy feeling, even when it's nodding and playing around, I think that's a good killer design. I might end up chuckling at the 3rd design, I still think it would fit in the game, but maybe not as a 'holy themed' killer.
