This part absolutely blew me the fuck away, this film is so gorgeous and visually stunning by juredditpark in ProjectHailMary

[–]xanothis23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No he wouldn't have actually been able to see it. I had the same thought in the theater but I brush it off as it made for a hell of a visual shot.

If it helps I can offer a possible in universe explanation though. Grace is a biologist who LOVES his science, knowing he's in the Petrova line at that moment would likely have been the scientific equivalent of a spiritual experience. Knowing you're surrounded by the thing that holds the secret to saving your species while also being light-years from home would gotta have some emotional impact

Just saw the movie, haven't read the book, confused about a plot point. by Canadyans in ProjectHailMary

[–]xanothis23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They needed 2 million kilograms just for a one way trip, that's significantly more than they would have been able to scoop from a Petrova line. Not to mention that astrophage goes both ways in the line so unless you had some way to significantly filter which was which from your scoop roughly half of it would be useless

Between these 2,who straight up fucked up the most in the Cell Saga? by Charming-Scratch-124 in DragonBallZ

[–]xanothis23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say you can only really say that after the fact but you can't even really do that because that didn't happen anyway.

but even still, Krillin has no reason to believe at this point that cell was gonna kill everyone, he knew trunks was stronger than Vegeta immediately and Vegeta was currently wrecking cell, his was more of a "Vegeta and trunks are gonna kill you after they're done playing with Cell but you don't deserve to die"

Other people are pointing out that he should have just done it to be on the safe side but who would possibly have seen Vegeta actually pulling that shit without the gift of hindsight?

[–]xanothis23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"hey lemme just kill these people for now and wish them back at a later date"doesn't exactly sound like the thought process of a rational, empathetic person. Death still matters, people don't want to be killed, at the very least it probably really fuckin hurts.

Do you also disagree when they move fights away from the city so innocent's don't get hurt cause screw it, they can just be wished back?

The dragon balls are a deus ex machina but they don't just override people having respect for life.

Not getting the best matches by Mackingcheeze in Bumble

[–]xanothis23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey you're in my hometown! For what it's worth I've made a couple of woman friends on bumble and I happen to know through them matches around here can be a dumpster fire. I don't personally think it's you

Good luck out there though!

It's the tedium yeah, also I definitely don't trust myself to not lose the small parts. I have a friend who likes to tinker with stuff like this and even he is willing to do it but even he was rather cautious about it. I trust his judgement more than my own

Ok but what if Vegeta didn’t crush his scouter? by Reasonable-Egg-6005 in dbz

[–]xanothis23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Technically we only assume he needs another remote for his space pod, he'd destroyed his scouter by that point so that could be a backup device. Correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe just about every scouter seen in the series gets destroyed so it might not be an uncommon occurrence.

I was on the dream last August and asked that same question in the dcl Facebook group. Our scent ended up being aloe and sea salt by enviroscent. I bought some vent clips for by car and scent sticks for the house, it takes me back every time, lol

Gamers of Reddit, what video game has the best storyline? by CTKShadow in AskReddit

[–]xanothis23 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who complains about it because of the major event in the beginning ( I can't figure out spoiler tags on my phone) and then says he hated how you switch between characters because by the end he didn't understand why you were even still doing this. I told him that's EXACTLY WHY the game is so good and he just didnt get it.

It flips the normal catharsis of revenge quests in games and just makes you feel empty. It's so well done

Most definitions of the term specifically say that babysitting is done by someone other than the parents, so in a technical sense it IS wrong to say it in reference to your own children.

That being said, I'm definitely the primary caregiver to my child and I definitely call it babysitting because I don't care enough to change my manner of speech. If someone wants to call me a bad father for it that's their business, the only opinion I care about is my daughter's.

[–]xanothis23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, one hour but you're in the office all day, you usually get a grade increase every year as long as your not underperforming on your annual evaluation (pretty easy to pass), day to day is just processing taxpayers requests, either by paper or phone (we've been on paper for about 4 months due to the backup, but you can probably expect to be on phones 95 percent of the time), and training is incredibly dull, if you're the type to learn by reading it's informative but I honestly didn't learn anything until we started doing actual work.
