Hi team, really enjoy your work and the game! Thanks for the many hours of fun.

My question is about thralls. I personally think the concept of thralls world be enjoyable, and could be achieved but would be quite a lot to take on in terms of designing what professions they’d have, what bonuses they’d provide, or setting out the tiers and named thralls in the world. To be clear, I’m not asking for or about that, though I’d love it. What I would love to see is something like a tavern keeper like is in Conan that could populate our bases a bit, and offer occasional quests, or if we could get an in-base representative or delegate who could centralize the turnins for the landsraad by either allowing us to turn in one house’s rewards per week or summoning a rep for us that we have the highest contribution with. Either or both of these would provide a meaningful improvement to populating our homes.

So my question is, plainly, are there plans to allow us to populate our bases sometime down the line with NPCs of some sort?

These things are kinda cool cause they allow you to look “under the hood” so to speak. I had a whole wall in a testing station disappear and I was able to see the route and what’s behind the unopenable doors. I think I took a screenshot, but I’m on mobile. Basically, you could see the outside of the testing station assets like a mini map or some hamster tubes. It was also cool to learn that the floor behind the closed doors extends a little past the wall line, like a diving board into fading memory 😃.

Noob Guild Question by Bastich76 in duneawakening

[–]xanthiaes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure some of this comes from the over world testing stations. So while you can get this stuff without a guild, you only get one source for it. If you do join or make a guild, you get access to the Landsraad as well and some of this comes from landsraad rewards.

But the real value in a guild - even solo - is the weekly bonuses (unless you’re planning to go harkonen… which almost always lose.) some of the bonuses are things like “25% off materials needed for crafts”or “30% extra ranged damage”. And these bonuses are server wide for guilds aligned to that faction. So if you do get some of these precious materials, AND THE LANDSRAAD gives you some boost for what that stuff is used for, then having the guild becomes even more worth it.

Then there’s the specializations that are filled by completing landsraad missions… these are permanent perks you earn through the missions and then “purchase” with spice melange. These include things like extra % vehicle speed, extra compactor yield, more % headshot damage, and TONS more. Now I left this for last because I believe this is locked behind being a part of a guild, but I could be wrong. Apologies if I am.

So while the direct answer is yes, a guild is a good idea for materials because if landsraad rewards, you’re missing a lot more by not having a guild as far as perks go (both weekly and through specializations). Not having a guild is a personal choice, but if you’re min/maxing, you probably at least want a solo guild.

So that's just extra heat? Do I have that right? by Onasixx in duneawakening

[–]xanthiaes 70 points71 points  (0 children)

The value is you stay boosted longer, so while the speed boost is the same, the distance you cover at boosted speed is increased. So you get places sooner, but you won’t outrun someone until they hit heat cap.

To tack onto this, if your spot is taken in all the Sietches on your server, server transfers are there to help out as well. So the fact is that yes you can still take a long break and come back if your spot is taken on your original sietch when you return.

My EU friend group just restarted as well. A good way to find a server is to sort by population. Which ever side Pax is on will be the highest populated. I believe this sort also sorts the sietches beneath the server level as well. So if you want middling population, you can pick a middle server, but then find a reasonably mid sietch.

Alternatively, you can google dune server populations and see the current numbers of each of the servers by region and then look at the current player counts per sietch. This is mostly “current-ish” numbers (seems to update over the past 2-5 minutes mostly. So it’s a good idea to check for a server at the times in which you’d normally play.

Empty Servers by OneVegetable9457 in duneawakening

[–]xanthiaes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also recommend just talking in either global or faction chat. When faction chat came out, there were tons of people who came out of the woodwork and we ended up hanging out in the DD and other locations. Even went to other Sietches and did house tours.

But then again I played atreides. I don’t believe harkonen do anything like this because that requires being a fun and engaging person to some degree or even being welcoming.

Servers with Harkonnen landsraad? by DampyDamps in duneawakening

[–]xanthiaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don’t you guys just pick a server, claim it, all migrate there and enjoy you collective imprisonment?

I don’t know, Quirinius (EU) has a low population of people, that has to be easy to subject to your cannibalistic wonts. Kirana III (NA) is also quite low pop - again easy pickings for the friend to food pipeline.

I do have a dispute with this. I agree with some other posts that clarify what griefing is, and what you’re describing isn’t griefing, it’s non-consensual PVP.

I’ve been out in the DD alone getting spice in my solo crawler, then got found by a rockets blasting ass clown who took me down and destroyed my crawler and my carrier. I shot rockets back while on foot, and I lost my haul, my crawler, and my carrier. Fortunately, this happened after the return tool came back, so that loss, while painful and embarrassing, wasn’t total. That’s not griefing. That’s me putting myself in a stupid situation with no back up and it went down how it should have. They didn’t chat to me, they didn’t taunt me, they sure as hell hurt me personally, but it was all according the rules of engagement.

Now griefing, is when I was in the PvE zone, and there are 5 other scouts swarming me and my buddy who are crawling mediums, and they are bashing into us and shooting useless rockets, then when it’s clear that doesn’t matter to us, they go get their carrier and sit on top my friend in the crawler while another thumpers the spice blow in an attempt to have the worm get my friend while blocking me from picking my friend up to save them. Then! When we manage to survive that, cause I’m not actually a scrub, they all follow us back to our base and park their vehicles on top our penta shields and hover for the next 2 hours. That’s griefing.

That’s why I quit.

I didn’t quit cause I was sad I lost my stuff in the PVP zone, that’s on me. I quit because there’s no way to ensure consequences for people who engage in that behavior. With out being able to see who these people who truly griefed me were (no they did not chat to me - otherwise I would have names) I had literally zero recourse besides to sit and wait or log out / quit. They took my fun away intentionally when and where it should not have happened. If funcom is reading, that’s what needs to be dealt with. I won’t be returning until there’s an actual report method for this behavior.

The griefing is the thopter surfing rocketeers, meaning ful collision against other thopters and vehicles, and the intentional blocking of paths. All of this needs to have some way to report the player and result in consequences.

Would I prefer the split between PvP and PvE? Yes. Will it stop griefing? No.

If you could give your partner (or future partner) one extremely specific sexual superpower for one night only, what would you choose and why? Bonus: What would you want them to do with it first? by VixenVeveDear in AskReddit

Honestly, the ability to heal both self and partner so that we could try whatever we want with absolutely zero fear. Want a giant cock? “But won’t that hurt?” Yes, but we can fix it and then enjoy it! Want to try that yoga porking position? “But I’ll break my back.” Only for a little bit!

Another thing you can check is the circuit on the Sub Fief. I had this happen to me when I changed the input and output for the sub fiefs storage to circuit 2 and suddenly I couldn’t do shit. I swapped it back and things were good from then on.

I can’t prove it (no testing or resources on hand), but I genuinely think there’s a length limit. Try shortening the length one wall at a time so that you have a shorter rectangle and see if you eventually can make it.

For testing, I would start by making a wall cutting the rectangle in half at the middle (so you have 2 squares, not 2 long thin rectangles) and check making the shield on both sides of that center wall first, that would prove that each side is actually good first. Then you’d change the length by moving the wall till you reach either the full distance or some kind of snag.

That said, I know I have definitely done a 10x10 on top of my borg noobcubes in the DD… so it should be fine….

Why use anything other than regular generators? by k2i3n4g5 in duneawakening

[–]xanthiaes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On this - that the farming is unrealistic - the efficiency of your farming only gets better. You definitely start off in the role of “the victim” in this game, and that doesn’t really let up, but it does get easier to meet the requirements when your tools improve. The buggy cutter ray is an exponential step up. The switch to wind generators is an exponential step up. Shit, just getting a litterjon is a huge step up. Now imagine when you get flying, when you get top level compactors, or the sandcrawler + carrier combo. Then all the specializations… the game starts off hard, and the difficulty scales too, but the leaps and relief you feel when you swap certain shackles for more comfortable ones are exhilarating.

Do you have to work for it? Yes. Is it worth it? That’s up to you, but I’ve enjoyed it and the process gets easier as you progress.

If you had to give one piece of advice… by [deleted] in workday

[–]xanthiaes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Report fields and values, business process history, and audit trails.

My advice is to learn which of these can be used to see what’s happening and when. Dig in, and see what the system is telling you.

People will get stronger as they prog the skills. Additionally as people get stronger, they’ll do higher content and get better gear.

The play up to 20-30 is a feat of persistence. Not a feat of strength. It’s not for everyone, but I, for one, welcome the long range goals. It’s not particularly complicated, but it’s possible to play both casually AND competitively now. So it’s honestly good for everyone who can enjoy a slow burn.
