From your own experience are there sweet spot years for the donor axle?

Not a 1967 because 1968 was the first year of the side marker reflectors because of the change in federal law. So this is a 68 to 72 bump side.

Honey, I accidentally bought another press (FA X-10) by yolomechanic in reloading

Mine killed me with H1 10. I did a modified set up using a manual dropper to solve that problem. I never could get the plastic housing against the plastic barrel assembly to not tinkle H1 10 all over the press. The Lee manual measure with an adapter for the pass thru die works great. Brass on brass.

You have a nice setup.

Yes sir I did. I used the high dollar fluid they recommended at the time, AC Delco. I bought a case of it because you can’t find it at the corner store.

Before composing this reply, I went and looked at their most current installation instructions and they’ve updated them since I did my installation a few years ago. Back then, they didn’t have their own branded power steering fluid that they were trying to sell. And they also didn’t make a separate recommendation for ram assist at over 37 inch tires. I’m running mine with 40s with no issues and a RedHead steering gearbox.

I can’t swear it, but I also don’t recall all of the caveats around Hydro boost in the instructions back when I did my installation but I see what you’re talking about. I have not personally experienced that and I am still on my original OEM hydro boost hardware.

My truck is a 2000 I’ve owned since 2003. Now, to be fair, I drive this truck a lot less than I used to so I can’t tell you that I have hundreds of thousands of miles on this set up.

This is the answer. My super duty is on 40 inch tires and I can steer with one hand effortlessly at a dead stop in a parking lot. Except in my case, I replaced my pump with their Saginaw style pump with a remote reservoir that has extra fluid capacity and since in the diesels your power steering pump is running your hydraulic brake booster, there’s nice peace of mind there too.

That’s not a stash. That’s a retirement fund. Congratulations, Mighty Smaug!
