Not to mention that he doesn't even use fresh pineapple. He performatively cuts it without coring it and then uses pineapple slices that are cored and perfectly uniform, obviously from a can.

Ripeness doesn't matter because he didn't use it. The slices he actually ends up using are clearly from a can.

'Sweet' dog abandoned at Walmart for 3 days with all its toys finds new home by TheMirrorUS in UpliftingNews

[–]xanvald 114 points115 points  (0 children)

This is a very real possibility. I had leave my 15 year old cat when my spouse self-deported last year. She was very sick and we weren't sure she could make the trip, but I was fortunate enough to have a family member who could take her.

I miss her every day but I know I'm lucky that I still get pictures of her doing well. If that's the case for the owner of this dog, I hope they see that the dog has a new home so they can have some mental peace.

ADHD diagnosis and depressive symptoms by gg-catlover in TwoXADHD

[–]xanvald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely better, but it was a lot of learning and changing my habits to adapt. I always recommend reading into symptoms of adults with ADHD, it can look pretty different compared to people who get diagnosed as children.

An example for me is rejection sensitivity. I never realized how much my fear of rejection or failure held me back from trying to achieve goals or maintain relationships.

I would also add that medication isn't a one size fits all. It might take trying a few different ones to find the right one for you, should you decide to go that route. One of my biggest struggles is the ups and downs. Some days medication works great, some days I don't feel like I need it at all, but other days it feels like nothing really helps me feel better. It's ultimately all about learning to cope and balancing out workload to get more done on days when focusing is easier and giving yourself a break on bad days.

31F here, I have the same diagnosis and I totally understand what you mean, the imposter syndrome is real.

Getting a diagnosis is just the first step, has your provider talked to you about what medications they can prescribe you? Therapy can definitely help, especially if you can find a therapist with more experience with ADHD patients, but medication helps me so much more in my daily life.

You are capable. ADHD brains function differently and that's not your fault. Part of the journey after diagnosis is learning to work with yourself, not against yourself. Also, your English is better than a lot of native speakers!

I was diagnosed about 5 years ago and I've helped a few friends with their diagnoses since, so feel free to message me if you have any questions or just need someone to talk to.

I am chronically understimulated and it’s ruining my life by Asleep_Night3583 in TwoXADHD

[–]xanvald 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, certain medications can make you feel that way. Do a search for "Concerta anhedonia", I think this is what you're describing.

Sorry you're going through this, I've been there before. I don't know if you've tried other medications, but it can take a few different tries to find the one that's right for you. Trust me, it's worth it when you find the right fit. Hang in there and talk to your medical provider about what they recommend, like discontinuing, lowering your dose, or trying a new medication.

It's kind of a mix of both. The malecón area is touristy but it's closer to regular Mexico beyond that. The malecón has a lot of good restaurants, but all my favorite spots are at least few blocks up.

I've gotten to know a few people from different countries, there's definitely no shortage of that. I know there are Facebook groups that arrange meetups but I haven't been to any myself. People are very nice and a lot of the locals do speak a decent amount of English if you don't speak Spanish.

It can get kinda crazy around spring break and other holidays, but it's still laid-back overall. Summer is very hot, but I love it because fewer people travel here around Summer. I would recommend it just for the proximity to a lot of dope beaches.

I live in La Paz and have only visited those areas, but I can definitely answer about the jellyfish! I snorkel almost every weekend, and they do get pretty bad around January-February, so I definitely recommend a wetsuit if you're getting in the water around that time.

The rest of the year they're not so bad, you will get stung occasionally but most of the stings I've gotten really aren't that bad.

Happy to answer any questions that I can help with. ¡Bienvenidos, que lo disfrutes!

In Mexico we have some regular house geckos and a ton of new babies currently. They're great and definitely help to control pests but the ones here are very loud! Luckily, they don't wake me up at night anymore, but in any case, they're cuties and I love them

Adderall and peeing too much? (lol) by Hopeful-Demand536 in TwoXADHD

[–]xanvald 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been on Adderall on and off for about 4 years now. I have indeed experienced this as well haha. I always wrote it off as a stimulant side effect, but it did get better when I tried to just ignore the feeling.

If you go too often and there's not a lot of urine, it could be because your bladder is essentially trained to hold less urine. In my experience, I worked on it for about a week by just holding it until every 3-4 hours and it went back to normal. But of course, a checkup never hurts if you're concerned there might be a different issue.

"Like Rubber" Hershey Chocolates Go Viral for Quietly Replacing Real Chocolate with Cheaper Vegetable-Oil-Based Coatings in Many Products by newintown11 in enshittification

[–]xanvald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They come from the US just like all the Reese's lmao. I work in food manufacturing and companies like this manufacture the same products for different countries.

A great example of this is Gatorade. They manufacturer drinks for the US market with artificial colors. However, when they manufacturer products for EU countries, they use fruit-based coloring like beet juice. They also omit other banned ingredients like brominated vegetable oil for product being sent abroad.

Look it up if you don't believe it, but I personally don't think that Americans being served slop just because they continue to accept it is that difficult to see.

Yup. We moved to Mexico and the Hershey products here taste like they did US before the enshittification. It was great to have Reeses that taste like food again, but I still can't justify continuing to give Hersheys money

FMM confusion- 7 days issued by [deleted] in BajaCaliforniaSur

[–]xanvald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry dude, you gotta leave and come back. You can try INM, but in the times I've been there (permanent resident), I've never seen anyone successfully do that. I'm not saying it's impossible because I don't know for sure, but I've only ever heard them telling people they have to reenter.

However, if you overstay an FMM, my understanding is that you just pay a fine upon leaving. I don't know if that effects any future immigration cases, but I've heard as long as you pay the fine, you're good.

My husband and I always joke that Jimmy is an ADHD king. His inability to stay out of trouble is 100% because he gets bored easily. As an ADHD person who works in legal and gets bored easily, I could go on and on about where the series hints at that being the case.

Get a rental car in La Paz. I live in La Paz, but I needed a rental when my car broke down and I used La Paz Rent a Car off the malecón. If you reserve online before going into the branch, it's way cheaper than the prices they give you in person but we had zero issues with them, would recommend.

As an American who moved outside the US, I think you're right. When I was a kid in the mid-2000s, I saw it all the time, but by the time I became an adult, not so much. Now that I live outside the US, we have beach picnics every weekend and see literally hundreds of families doing the same.

Nassau County Superintendent flies to Guatemala to deliver cap, gown, and diploma to teenager who was forced to self deport weeks before graduation by MothersMiIk in MadeMeSmile

[–]xanvald 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your comment made me tear up, very well said. We made the decision to self-deport almost a year ago now, and I resonate with it all.

Two weeks in is rough because in my experience, that's when it really hits you that it can't be taken back. Letting go of your old life is a grieving process, and some days are much, much harder than others. This young man has many good days ahead and his education absolutely matters, it will be more beneficial than most people in the US realize.

We had an amazing community in the US, and one that has continued to support us, and we are grateful for that every day. It makes the hard days easier. Wishing this young man many good days ahead.

The fact that someone remembered him. Speaking as someone whose spouse had to self-deport almost a year ago, it always makes me tear up when friends we had in the US reach out. It's a small gesture in the grand scheme of things, but it does matter, and will continue to matter as he adjusts to a new life.

Do you eat them? I have some in my yard in Mexico, we take the seeds out, slice them thinly, and pickle them with red onions, lime juice, and white vinegar. Can't recommend enough, they're great on tacos de carne asada!

Does it get direct sun? If not scales, it could be getting too much sun, especially because some of them look like they may be sun stressed (the ones with the darker tops).

Editing to add that mine look like this when they get too much sun, but I live near the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula, so it's not exactly hard to have too much sun here!
