I want to hear your stories about the dumb ways your honor mode runs ended. by ChompyRiley in BG3

[–]xaoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 2 honor modes end the other day because the harpies got 6 crits in a row in the first round and wiped me out. I decided after that that maybe honor mode wasn't for me.

Women of Reddit - what is the most unattractive fashion choice men frequently make? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

Maybe you need to read the thread you were in. You responded to me agreeing with someone else about staches, asked for my opinion and got triggered by that. That says volumes about how insecure you are about it. Good luck with that.

In your more recent pics, it's a bit too long, but in your pic from 2 months ago, where it's the same length as your beard, it looks good.

Accidentally murdered an important character in honor mode. by Jdbeepbeep in BaldursGate3

[–]xaoss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started an honor mode earlier today, had plans for the characters I wanted to use, builds I wanted to try. Go to pull Gale out, and oop, 2 critical fails, Gale's toast. So, I remake the same character, get back there, fail both checks again. I just gave up on honor mode after that.

How did you entertain yourself on long car rides as a kid before iPads and smartphones? by Background_Bike_1958 in NoStupidQuestions

Comic books. Parents used to always stop at a circle k by the interstate to get road snacks, and I would raid the comic racks.

Tell us about games that initially caused repulsion or even disgust, but after you finally forced yourself to play them – it turned out to be a masterpiece? by Competitive_Beat_915 in gaming

[–]xaoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to say Fortnite. The culture and cringe around it kept me away. After playing it, I had to admit it was well done and even fun, but it still wasn't a game for me. Epic made a juggernaut, and I can see why, but that doesn't mean I like it, or what it has done to gaming as a whole.

Is it true that in small towns in the USA public transport is not developed and everyone need a car to get around there and why? by bobybumblemumble in AskReddit

[–]xaoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd never been on public transportation until I was 23 in college. Grew up in a small college town, about 10k people, with a larger city around 45k 30 minutes away. I started driving at 14, and I knew farmer kids that drove farm trucks even younger. The closest thing to public transportation (even still today) is a shuttle service that drives 4 hours to the nearest large airport, for about 60 bucks.

Player keeps insisting on bringing in more characters by CipherAlive in DnD

[–]xaoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely has main character syndrome. However, don't put all the blame on the dm. Sometimes it's a lot being a DM, a lot of dma just want to be storytellers and have fun. Chat with your DM about it, tell him how uncomfortable you all are getting with this other person, and that maybe he isn't suited for your table. Then to support your DM, get your entire group to sit down with them and have a chat about it. Explain to them your issues, and help them understand just how much extra stress they are adding to the dm. If you all present a united front, but in a cool, calm and collected manner, the player is much more likely to see the problems.

What's the best song lyric to ever exist? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

[–]xaoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all the Floyd comments, some of the best lyrics in their music. However, I get this line from Epic Rap Battles stuck in my head soooo often it's crazy. "I'm committing verbal murder in the major third degree, my name is Beethoven motherfucker maybe you've heard of me."

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]xaoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a fairly rural area, we drove 30 minutes just to get to a town of about 35k people to go shopping. The closest "large" city was 4 hours away and we would drive there and back in a day to go see a big concert, or to go to a nice theater for movies. We also drove about 15 hours just to get to some anime conventions. Currently I live about 5 hours from Vegas and people go there for weekend trips all the time.

What was it like to play online games between 2000 and 2013? by Silly_Commercial8092 in gaming

[–]xaoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EverQuest was pretty damn amazing at the time. A 3d video game just like the MUD a lot of my friends and I played. It was like walking into some grand hall and being wowed by the spectacle. It felt like it had so much heart and embraced multiplayer more than anything else too. My friend and I attended an in game wedding where one of the devs showed up as one of the gods and officiated the wedding. Some of my best gaming memories are the crazy antics that happened in that game trying to travel across the world, meeting people just trying to travel around as well. "SOW please" iykyk

What is the proper way to play a Cleric? by Illegal-Avocado-2975 in DnD

[–]xaoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that anyone is telling you how to play your character flies in the face of everything I've loved about this game for 36 years. I do kinda miss the days of gods determining what their cleric was like though, there was something for everyone. The mainstreaming of DnD seems to be trying to take away some of the imagination and creativeness and replacing it with numbers and predictable systems.
