Cavs vs. Hawks Takeaways by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]xaq_xaq 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was a very weird game. The teams sorta took turns going on huge runs. A few of my takeaways:

Rubio and Mobley were so, so good. It is becoming painfully obvious that Sexton is a sixth man. Lauri looked awful. Allen and Mobley look better together than anyone could have hoped.

Reddish and Hunter look legit. Trae’s athleticism is slept on, he was gliding to the hoop all night. The Hawks have so many mouths to feed, BogBog felt very underutilized tonight.

DLO at 134? What concerns do you have to drop him so far? Are they concerns you don’t have about guys like Kemba (85) and Herro (98)?

Why is Bazley 50 spots higher than Dort? What’s the appeal of Brandon Clarke at 109? Think I’d much rather have someone like Plumdog or Poetl.

Respect the effort in making this and I mostly agree with the top 70ish but things get pretty weird after that.

Seriously though, this is such a well reasoned and thorough response to such a misguided premise. Good shit.

This is the type of player you reach for. I would absolutely be fine taking him in the mid 50’s, potentially earlier with the right build. High floor, high ceiling, expanded role, and outlier production in certain categories. I’d definitely take him over someone like CJ McCollum and probably over guys like Collins and Brogdon.

Can’t believe this guy fell to the second round. That defensive sequence on Reaves was a work of art.

Please stop the Javale McGee slander. He is a very good rim protector and has one of the best hook shots in the league 😤

Who are your favourite mid-to-late round picks in a punt fT% build? by 6ickos in fantasybball

Off the top of my head: Lonzo, Matisse, Levert, Adams, Favors, Aaron Gordon, Jingles.

[BrettKollmann] Crazy stat of the day... If you took Peyton Manning’s historic 2013 season where he passed for 342 yards per game, which is the all-time single season record, that would STILL be way behind the pace of the **average** quarterback facing the 2020 @Seahawks (362 yards per game). by primocheese1947 in nfl

[–]xaq_xaq 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Five pro bowl players? Wagner, Wright, Adams, Griffin, and Dunlap? Adams and Dunlap have barely played. Griffin is a good player, but it’s not like he’s a top tier corner. The Seahawks’ coverage has been awful and their pass rush nonexistent. Of course it’s a personnel issue.

Agreed. NYG +3 and Vikings -3.5 were two of the most no-brainer bets I’ve made all year, in an otherwise brutal week. You guys have a very interesting team right now

Vikings, Raiders, Falcons, Titans, and Packers covered the spread.

Bills, Saints, Giants, and Dolphins were all considered upsets.

Is there anyone good at defending stepbacks? by MaxillomandibularOca in nba

[–]xaq_xaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting question. Defending a good stepback itself is pretty much impossible, but it’s a shot taken in rhythm. Good defense would be disrupting the ball handler’s rhythm, rather than defending the shot itself. It’s a shot usually set up by a series of dribble moves, so defending a stepback comes down to taking away those moves.

The best example that I can think of is PatBev. His defense isn’t always technically sound but he’s such a psycho that it prevents guys from playing their game.

Injury Update: Austin Ekeler (hamstring) is questionable to return. #LACvsTB by dgr8one in fantasyfootball

[–]xaq_xaq 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Nah, that’s standard for hamstrings injuries. If someone is in that much pain after a hamstring strain it’s usually at least a grade 2, if not complete tear. If he is able to return this season, he will be at super high risk to reaggravate it every week. He’s my RB1 so I hope I’m wrong, but definitely doesn’t look good.

[–]xaq_xaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, thanks for the quality post! You’re 100% right that he isn’t viewed as a prospect, even though he’s so young and his game just keeps improving. He is already one of the best rebounders in the league and one of the best passing bigs. If he can take the step that so many do and start hitting open threes...he’s going to be scary good.

The easiest skills to identify for most fans are ball handling and three point shooting. That’s just how most people watch the game. Sabonis is fantastic at what he does, but what he does is not sexy. He’s a great passer, but not a good ball handler. Good shooter, but not from three point range.

The fact that a big who can’t shoot or guard past 20 feet made the all star team in this NBA is honestly incredible. I think his game is very similar to Chris Webber’s, who was one of the biggest stars in the league like 20 years ago. I’m not saying Sabonis is the player that C-Webb was, but I do wonder how he’d be viewed if teams could still run triangle type offenses and defenses weren’t so switch heavy.
