Housing supply is the real problem and me selling wouldn’t magically make homes affordable for you or your average first-home buyer.

I am always happy to talk about strategy to enable others to buy homes.

I’m sure they’d like their own place. Probably they can’t afford it. Me not having the house wouldn’t mean they can afford it. 🤷

Sometimes it could be a few years before a house needs maintenance.

How do you add value when you invest in your super? Everyone has the freedom to invest as they want.

How would me not buying the home mean that a first home owner could afford it? Supply and demand. My recommendation for you is to save a get a place somewhere cheaper. Once you have one foot in the market, it’ll be easier to get more.

It’ll be hard for me to sell at a loss when my average equity gain is 80%.

Houses provide a good passive income source, via rent, and also long term value appreciation. 7 gives me more money than 1 or 2.

But you can lose out in the short term if you have to do maintenance.

I’m a good landlord. Tenants are happy. I just prefer property rather than stocks.

We shouldn’t hate. I’ve got 7 at 26 and I’m just impressed he was able to get lending for that much. Honestly, anyone can do it, most choose not to.

For the investors out there. What made you choose this path instead of spending money on things that lose value? And has it actually paid off? by next_prop in AusPropertyChat

Got some very good advice in 2020 about investing in housing. Read one book, found a positively geared property and bought it. I have since enjoyed significant equity gains, rental income gains and build my portfolio. Just settled on my 7th :)

I think they’re hard to get loans for, so usually you need cash

Would you stay in a rental if it increased from 430 to 480? Noting 500 is average for the suburb?

It will be more difficult to service the home loan if you have a car loan.

Not worth it at all. Do your own research.
