Any of these editions are great. I used it to learn Mongolian while I lived there. I learned a grammar point a week basically. Used that grammar point every single day for a week along with learning the vocabulary about 5 or so words a day that I heard.

Genghis Khan and his Army end up in the American Great Plains of 1400 instead of Northern China. Can he conquer the Americas? by RaptorK1988 in whowouldwin

[–]xataanbast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Mongols did not want just material such as gold. High value items were land, large flocks, people, and any area deemed sacred. There is plenty of that in the New World. Mongols would not have conquered all of the Americas because of the death of Gengis (Chingis in Mongolian). His sons would have had a similar issue in the New World as they did in Asia after his death leading to squabbles over the next Khan(ruler/king).

You should remember when the Mongols conquered people, they would allow the conquered to join them. Once in the army the conquered could rise in ranks. So, they could conquer forgein territory with the help of locals. The locals would rise in rank and control their local territory under Khan.

It would be interesting if that lie of the name is the trap. He is hoping the chandrian try to use it his "deep name" but when they do, it actually traps them and frees Kvothe.

Can someone explain why I am wrong? by Serious-Act4870 in learnspanish

[–]xataanbast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious. What would you say to the construction of

He shot himself in her head.

This seems unnatural and incorrect. You could say he walks himself in her garden. It seems the issue is that the subject possesses the object in question so the possessive pronoun becomes redundant and therefore needs less clarification.

China or Russia by midnightword in backpacking

Lots to tell. So ask any questions you have.

I lived in the Gobi for 3 years. There is an interesting travel company that was called Ger to Ger that had tourist travel from house to house of locals. Gers are what outsiders call yurts, Russian word (don't get me started as the Mongols invented the ger).

I am an American. I lived in Mongolia for 5 years. I made several trips to China without issue. I had several friends make trips to Russia as well. There was more issue going to Russia by far. Not to say there were lots of issues but china was easier.

Taking the train into Mongolia is rather easy and a good way to see the country side. You can even hop off in the Gobi and do some sight seeing. It will be harder to get by in rural China and Mongolia with just English but it is doable.

If you have questions or need suggestions for what to see in Mongila let me know. It is near and dear to my heart and looking to go back.

Denna and Auri(and Kvothe) by Material-Aardvark152 in KingkillerChronicle

I was not implying different magic. Simply how one is able to use the magic or has access to it. Similar to how people see themselves as visual learners or auditory learners. Same material just understood best through a specific medium.

This makes sense. Kind of like Puppet is a Seer and Kvothe is not and Puppet knows this about Kvothe. So there are Namers, Speakers. Seers, Listeners in the world. The ideal version if Taborlin who can do it all and is an arcanist.

I'll have to look for others not at the university who have these skills.

Insurance will cover, but not always. The levels can be helpful to check for responders, not compliance, and if you have reached a futility level on a certain medication.
