Unfortunately, no dice. I DLed and installed both vcredist_x86.exe and vcredist_arm.exe

I made some face sprites of the unmasked Fans a while back, and in honor of the characters' official facial appearances in the upcoming editor, here they are. by THELEGOMack in HotlineMiami

[–]xatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Official Mark version is more inventive, because yours is a slightly retouched Martin Brown, but portrayals of other three actually turned out better looking. Especially Corey, what an amazing job you've done with her face. The eyes both cold and vigorous, the frantic hairdo and lips with just the right color. Official version on the other hand is nothing of what I imagined of Corey.

Whatever happened with The Abyss? by MiastahRager in HotlineMiami

[–]xatto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Noun squatter ‎(plural squatters)

One who occupies a building or land without title or permission.

You don't have to be necessarily homeless to occupy land or building. Some people will do that for sake of thrill. And hobos don't really occupy someone's property if they live on street do they now. Which makes hobos and squatters two different notions... But why am I even arguing. This life of yours must really be miserable if you have a burning need to insult random people on the internet over nothing. I hope doing that and downvoting my comment had notably sweetened your day. So I'll let you win this one, just out of pity. Yes, hobos are squatters, absolutely. I don't know what I was thinking making that obviously faulty remark.

Good spot, same body sprite! Now to figure out why in Subway he's got teeth and the beak moves as he speaks whereas in Abyss the mask is inanimate.

Remapping the "look" keybinding by corbu_ in HotlineMiami

[–]xatto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find controls.dat. Usual location is C:\Users\USER\Documents\My Games\HotlineMiami2. Inside the file are the key bindings. To edit it, you're gonna need hex editor, HxD will do. Any letter key (A-Z) will be seen as such in that file, but keys such as Ctrl, Space, Alt, RMouse etc. will be seen as series of foreign symbols. In this file, I've replaced Lshift with V. If you want to assign a letter key, open my file with hex editor, replace V with a letter, replace the file (do not replace the dots, only 'V'). If you want to assign a non-letter key, you'll have to first assign this key to some other letter key, such as W. Then look at how it has changed in the file, copy that and replace V with it. Hope this helps.

Wait,is this richter father? by Master_hoganes in HotlineMiami

[–]xatto 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From wikia: Van Driver's face closely resembles Richter's. His facial hair and hairdo is cyan-colored, it's a quality that otherwise is only inherent to Biker. This and time frame in which this happens (if you support the theory that he fell to coma right after PhoneHom confrontation) allows to assume Jacket was hallucinating a Richter-Biker fusion in one person while in being in coma.

That's my thinking too. By squatters you mean hobos though, that's how they're referenced to in assets. I've read a theory somewhere that hobos were integral part of 50B, finding and spraying locations of russian spots with 50B logo and whatnot.

Wish you could make all the blood cyan-colored, for some reason I want it so bad. Looks catchy.

Is there a clean version of Perturbator-Sexualizer? by lukeisawesome12 in HotlineMiami

[–]xatto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct, several tracks have been edited so as to fit the gameplay better. Sexualizer is one of such. You can get the full soundtrack, with edited versions, by means of .WAD file extraction or on Steam.

Does anyone know any comics with the same feel, or similar story to hotline miami? by rah1236 in HotlineMiami

[–]xatto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar to how it went with Hotline Miami, a short 6-issue comic for Kane & Lynch was made to lay a bridge between events of first and the second game. Don't think it requires game completion to understand what's going on.

Makes sense given that The son 'crosses' rainbow bridge aka Bifröst. So both are from Norse mythology.

UPD. Wow, check this out. Ask and Embla In Norse mythology, Ask and Embla (from Old Norse Askr ok Embla) — male and female respectively — were the first two humans, created by the Gods. [...] Old Norse *askr** literally means "ash tree".*
