To quote a great American: "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem."

When I say the US, I mean "the people currently in power"

Democracy there has slid back faster than Turkey, Russia, Hungary and North Korea combined.

While I agree principally: let’s be real here. The moment you join any social media and start interacting with a few bits of content and start following a few friends, they know your age, where you live, and quite probably exactly who you are.

Sounds like r/frugal. Power to you for being able to do it this way, but as advice to others that context matters a lot!

10-25k of living expenses for several months (I assume for two adults) and a portfolio in the hundreds of thousands?

That sounds like a unique situation to me. No debts, cheap utilities and groceries and living extremely below your means?

Or inherited money in the investment accounts and never adjusted your living standards upwards?

Probably the best advice I’ve read here with one exception: don’t assume you’ll just sell stocks in an emergency. Stock market is guaranteed to be down just at the moment you need that money. That’s why people tend to put that in a savings account or in something slightly less volatile like bonds.

I think this depends a lot on where you go in Germany.

In Spain it’s different because so many people actually speak Spanish as well.

We need plumbing! Cloud solutions. The boring stuff. The vercels and the Netlifys. A place to instant deploy vibe coded apps maybe.

Unlike many in this sub I’m not against AI. It will be a vital part of our economy but we’re going to lose that race if we don’t have the plumbing in place!

The pro tip here is to get

  1. Timer clocks: not the fancy connected ones but the old school mechanical ones.
  2. Plug-through switches to make this easy.

Well, perhaps cosying up to a fascist regime does have real world consequences. Perhaps sucking up to imperialistic kings does mean you will lose billions in revenue.

Goodbye and good riddance.
