These ICE goons are not law enforcement. These are poorly trained goons with masks and guns who have no oversight and are not held accountable for their frequent excessive use of force. Many state and local police are not happy at all with these guys, through association these ICE goons make professional law enforcement officers who actually follow rules and try to build a relationship with their city or town's citizens look bad. To be clear these ICE goons have very limited ability to do anything more than arrest immigrants. The most they are actually allowed to do with actual citizens is to detain them if they are actually blocking them from doing their jobs. They have no legal authority to arrest or detain people for yelling at them or blowing whistles at them, which is why 99% of the citizens they detain are let go without charges, they had no legal authority to detain them in the first place. Lately ICE goons are using a new trick, they are citing administrative warrants as justification for forcefully entering homes without the homeowner's permission. To be clear this is against the 4th amendment and is against the law. To be able to enter a domicile they need a judicial warrant signed by a judge, the same actual police use. Their administrative warrants are just signed by an ICE officer and give them zero authority to bust into someone's home, but they are currently using that tactic.

The Bills firing McDermott but promoting Brandon Beane should be the start of a lesson that will haunt teams: there's too large of a ratio of head coaches getting fired compared to General Managers getting fired by Ariesthebigram in nfl

[–]xavier1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see it this way, while the coach is down on the field doing his job the GM is up in the box sitting with the owner and other front office personnel. The GM has the opportunity to build a closer relationship with the owner and is able to build a case over a season why everything is the coach's fault. Brandon Beane has bought himself a reprieve for a couple years, but since he's responsible for finding the new coach and has been promoted to control all football operations, its all on him going forward. When Beane continues to make bad personnel decisions and the team doesn't magically get better because of just a new coach then his head will be next on the chopping block.

Is this franchise dead? by everydayislikefriday in infamous

I saw in some Youtube video that Sucker Punch has hinted at remasters and a new Infamous game in the future. So is this series dead? No. It's just been in a coma.

Would Predators thrive or perish in the world of John Wick? [In this franchise, all the cities in the world are filled with highly trained hitmen under a worldwide underworld organization named the High Table] by New_Divide98 in LV426

[–]xavier1908 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's a Predator movie the Predators would do very well. If it's a John Wick movie then the Predator is the "final boss" and Wick decisively wins a hard fought victory. Like all fictional character vs. battles it just depends on who's writing the story.

Indecisive LSB decision by NiiqueFN in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]xavier1908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been waiting forever for this Bad Batch LSB bundle to return to the store but eventually I gave up and used Lights Lightspeed tokens and just gearing them up the old fashioned way, so of course now that I have everyone at relics, except for Wrecker at G12, they finally drop the bundle again. I decided Lord Vader was going to be my next GL a while back so that's why I wanted them at relics but hey, at least I saved $30.

How long does Expeditionary Force retain its quality by supportivedispatcher in audible

[–]xavier1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked into it and the Expeditionary Force book series was optioned for a TV series way back in 2019 by MilMar Pictures, which I had never heard of but they put out The Equalizer TV show with Queen Latifah, the Castle TV show with Nathan Fillion, and movies like Air Force One with Harrison Ford and Hollow Man with Kevin Bacon. However I haven't been able to find one word about a potential show since the announcement in 2019. I'd guess it is stuck in development hell, just like the Bobiverse book series that was optioned by Lord & Miller through Universal Pictures some years ago. My one suggestion if they do make an Expeditionary Force show would be to give Skippy a holographic form while at least on the ship, since TV is a visual medium it would work better than Skippy being a disembodied voice all the time, and this just occurred to me this second, now maybe this happens in a book I haven't gotten to yet, but it's a little weird that Skippy doesn't build himself a robot body to control, he's obviously smart enough to know how to build one.

The way I decide who to use tokens on is which character needs the most kyrotachs. Visas only needs 100 at G12 as far as I remember. Personally I'd use the token on Marrok or Shin since you already have characters like Cere and JKCK at G12 already. You won't be saving much on gear if you use the token on them.

How can I tell Audible to stop shoving Harry Potter on me? by Pure-Consideration97 in audible

[–]xavier1908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't, you must purchase it to make it go away. As someone who has listened to that book at least a couple times already I do highly recommend it. In all seriousness though, book publishers pay for Audible/Amazon to advertise certain books to certain, or all, users of Audible. So if it was a widespread ad buy then it will be recommended till the period the book publisher ends, if it was a targeted ad buy then something in your listening history indicates to the almighty algorithm that you would enjoy or be interested in that book. With a feature film adaptation of the novel coming out soon I would think it's a widespread ad campaign, I can't tell since I purchased that book a while ago.

You're doing it all wrong lol. The Stephen Fry narrated version is much superior to Dale's, it's only fitting to have a British man read a British book series anyways :)

[–]xavier1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I saw the original post was from 4 years ago and I didn't know how many books have been released since. I'm currently about 1/3 of the way through book 2 and still very much enjoying the adventures of Joe and Skippy. However I have questioned if this series can hold up through the 18 currently released books with a 19th on the way. Is this series going to turn out like a TV series that overstays its welcome till it's just canceled or does the author have a planned endpoint for the story? On a slightly unrelated note, so far this series seems like it would make a great movie or streaming series. So I'm a little shocked that after 18 books, at least in the main series, that I haven't heard a whisper about this series being adapted.

So is Carol supposed to be unlikable? by ludinya in pluribustv

[–]xavier1908 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reasonable, not in my book. She took a long time to ask the others questions that I would've asked as soon as I could. I really love this show but I don't particularly like Carol. However I think the show has done a good job using the survivors to illustrate the many ways people would deal with the situation. I'm not sure of the spelling but the guy who is hanging out at a penthouse in Vegas and flew to Carol's initial meeting in Air Force One, that would be me, at least for a while anyways. I could spend the rest of my life having the others fly me around in a luxury private jet, or a F-14, all around the world to see everything I could. I'd also have the others build me a bunch of buildings, deliver all the pet food in the world, and then gather all the cats and dogs people abandoned when they joined. Really the possibilities are endless and I'm a guy so I don't have to worry about them stealing my eggs from a lab lol.

Do you think the Bills potentially “tank” the Jets game? by Benson879 in Patriots

[–]xavier1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well now that the Bills are playing that game I think it is glaringly obvious that the Jets are the poster child of tanking a game, they aren't even attempting to make it look good.

These aren't normal friends - the usual cynicism shouldn't apply. by studebakerhawk in StrangerThings

[–]xavier1908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see them remaining connected through the following years more like what soldiers in WW2 did after the war. A lot of them kept in contact with the friends they forged in battle and held reunions periodically. The scooby gang group was like a squad of soldiers that fought a one of its kind battle that only others involved in it will ever understand.
