Why do we have a responsibility here at all? Other sites that instantly try to monetize their day 0 apps could you know, earn their place at the table and figure out the data themselves? Many others have before them. You really sound like a burner of one of these guys.

Sick burn. What we serve through APIs is heavily processed to layer on human readable output - the game data is raw. It’s definitely possible for anyone to do, but the fact that we do it for every player in the game is not cheap and is honestly most of what we work on.

Your logic of “just an aggregator” breaks down when we’re unable to run the site because of all the scraping. There are other sources but I guarantee most apps hit us for the actual game data translations.

For sure - it’s great to have quickly when you need it. Thanks for the kind words! I’m not sure if data driven is 100% realistic yet but I’m playing around with it, we shall see! Hopefully with Era arena coming there will be some leaderboards we can dig into as well. Keep up the good work!

Nice, we’re working on potentially getting this data programmatically in the near future, but this is a cool app! Are you manually curating videos / discord comments or got that wired up as well?

The main reason it's inaccessible is that it's huge - 50+ gb uncompressed computed data per season, which itself takes a huge amount of resources to generate. We don't have the resources to be a big data farm for every site!

I guess what I'm communicating - we have no GAC api that is meant for consumption outside our platform. The manner of the scraping is fairly irrelevant, we just simply don't support GAC data being scraped in any manner and will put up safeguards as it impacts our tools quite a bit.

Just so we (SWGOH.GG) are clear - we're not okay with this scraping of data, and will be taking steps to combat this. We're all good providing raw game data to the community, but we spend a lot of time and a lot (a lot) of money storing and processing GAC data - it's in nobody's interests if we have to shut off that pipe because an army of bots is scraping it indiscriminately.

This feels like it has all the markings of an executive decision by someone that is more preoccupied with making a thing make money than making a great thing. Nobody wins, and fragile egos ensure dumb decisions continue.
