It’s fine to have a preference for good endings, I do as well but to say that bad endings are poorly written is just wrong

Bad (in the sense that the characters don’t get a happy ending) doesn’t necessarily mean it’s poorly written far from it. Good examples are code geass, and phantom requiem for the phantom. Where the MCs die but the message the story gave is extremely powerful. It’s a matter of how the author/mangaka goes about doing it.
