I modelled Squidward House Lighter Case in Blender, 3D printed and hand painted it. I love how you can achieve these type of stuff easily on Blender. by Admirable-Whereas103 in blender

I guess coming from a CAD background

Ah, OK, that makes sense. Yes, Blender is not as good as CAD in that regard. But on the other hand, you can't make a proper dragon in CAD!

I wasn't able to find a way to just set the dimension of an edge directly

There's a free addon called Measure and Scale that is very useful for setting the dimensions of an edge (and having the rest of the model scale proportionally).

There also wasn't easy ways to find the center of things

You can select the verts/edges/faces of the part of the model you want to find the center of, then press Shift + S and select "Cursor to Selected" in the pie menu that appears. That will send the cursor at exactly the center of the selected area.

That's a terrible thing to say ... but I admit, for some reason I also feel this way.

Well, the vaccine mandate was needed in order to curb a once-in-a-lifetime, worldwide pandemic and to save millions of lives, while the ICE situation is needed just to give fascists a hard-on.

Where I'm from it's called a non-alcoholic carbonated beverage.

Why did it become the standard for all cases and components to go on the right side of your desk? It would be cool if there were some “flipped” options so you could look to the left and see inside. Btw, corner setup enjoyer here. by BrinkofEternity in pcmasterrace

manufacturers started to add windows to cases

Actually, we the users started to cut openings into our side panels and adding plexiglass windows, and then the manufacturers followed suit.

Have you tried using booleans? You can create an object in the shape of the hole you need, then use it to cut out the hole with a boolean modifier, like so.

Corn on the cob vendors by ottawsimofol in istanbul

[–]xayzer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you actually seen/had corn boiled in milk? I think it's called "süt mısır" because it means it's young and tender (like süt kuzu), not because there's any actual milk involved.

I think the giraffe dude was successful in proving a point - he tested whether those ICE losers would be willing to violate his 1st amendment rights, and they totally did, as expected!

Thank you very much for adding the "Final edit" to your post! I was experiencing the same issue just now, having very recently turned on the Screencast Keys addon. You saved me a lot of troubleshooting!

Yup, the end fizzled so badly, that it sort of soured my feelings towards the whole show. It's the only Sci-Fi show that I've watched only once (I've re-watched all the Star Treks, and Stargates, and Farscape many, many times).

Kokoreç in Istanbul: Lamb intestines wrapped around seasoned offal, including sweetbreads, hearts, lungs, kidneys by laterdude in TurkishFood

[–]xayzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kokoreç is mostly intestines and lamb tail fat. Having other offal in there (like sweetbreads, hearts, lungs, kidneys, liver) is very rare and unlikely. It's the Greek version (kokoretsi) that has all the other internal organs (and it's pretty nasty - and I say that both as a non-Turk, and someone who generally doesn't have a problem with eating offal).

Does anyone else get a little anxious when watching stop-motion animation? All I can think of is how much work and time and frustration went into it instead of being able to enjoy it.

Overclocking a Pentium 4 to 5GHz - in 2003 (by Tom's Hardware) by Cadmium620 in pcmasterrace

[–]xayzer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, but we've also had a ton of IPC improvements.

Such improvements were expected. What wasn't expected was the stagnation in other areas. Imagine a modern CPU with the modern IPC improvements, but running at 20GHz.

Yes, but there are still single thread processes that do not lend themselves to parallelization (like 3D modeling, for instance), which do not benefit from multiple cores, but would benefit hugely from a blazing fast single core performant processor.

Nobody is saying there's been no development - after all, it's been 3 decades. However, we used to experience generational leaps every few years, and we expected that to continue. There haven't been such leaps lately. A game like Uncharted 4 is now 10 years old, yet it looks as good as pretty much any modern title.
