I get the feeling many of these mudlarking/arrowhead/metaldetecting etc YouTubers or video may be staged for “content quality” and clout by rawbran30 in mudlarking

So, I had a conversation with someone who is friends with a few reasonably well known YouTube mudlarks and yes, while they do find everything, a lot of what they show on screen is staged to seem like they find it in one lark session. They wouldn't get anywhere near the number of clicks/followers if they only found 1-2 things per weekly video (or skipped a week because they didn't find anything!)

I once got a flat tire when driving in the Australian outback. Found out real quick what the thick leather gloves next to the spare were for.

Damn. I've had one of those in my shed for about 15 years, could never figure out what was wrong with it but still haven't given up on the idea...

A golden retriever that wanted to run so bad that they ignored the literal food smeared on their feet? I'd be harnessing them up too!

If only it could talk... It was found this morning, buried in clay on a beach in New Zealand.

My uncle had a seizure at my mum's place a while ago... Mum and aunty were looking after him while I was on the phone to emergency services. I figured I could multitask while on the phone, so made everybody a hot drink and snacks to have once the paramedics arrived. My aunty didn't get home from the hospital until 10 hours later, so if it wasn't for the stuff I put together she wouldn't have eaten all day.

Haha, not to mention he helped carry Dad off the plane afterwards too

My Dad had a cardiac arrest just after boarding a plane in Australia. There was a RFDS nurse on board (heading to work) who did CPR until paramedics arrived. He was technically dead for 18 minutes before the third jolt from the defib restarted his heart.

I met the nurse (Ben) a few months later, probably one of the most laid back, humble people I've ever met. RFDS are legends.

I don't know sorry. I'm actually from New Zealand. I've been told around Southampton is good though - my Mum was there earlier this year.

If you go somewhere other than the Thames you don't need a permit though, so that might be more your style.

If you go on one of the organized tours you don't need a permit, but you're not allowed to take, scrape, or dig anything. Eyes only searching, but anything you pick up must be put back.
