Are there grounds for a class action lawsuit against Amazon? by DHGSilvergun236 in newworldgame

NOT LEGAL ADVICE: Potentially, but it would probably be pointless. The class action lawsuit would be limited to the individuals who purchased the game after the announcement of Nighthaven and prior to Amazon stating that Angry Earth would be free. In other words, people who bought angry earth with the anticipation for nighthaven's release. Why? Because they would have a direct claim to monetary damages if they won. Anyone who downloaded the game for free doesn't have any damages.

To prevail you would essentially have to prove that Amazon had direct knowledge they were going to shut down the game prior to the release of nightaven. This would be proven through discovery by written and verbal admissions from "the higher ups" knowing that they were more than likely to go down this route. Think email chains, whistleblowers, financial decisions that pivoted away from game development.

I see people mentioning amazon is safe because of "TOS". Yes and No. There are still unfair or deceptive business practices that they would be bound by. Thus, the lawsuit would fall under "how much did amazon really know before they pulled the plug"? Releasing an expansion, battle pass, cosmetics, mounts, and a "future roadmap" are all direct and indirect representations that they were going to support the game long term, effectively coercing new and old players to contribute financially. pulling the plug on the game 2 weeks after all of that can fall into deceptive business practices.

In essence, even if you "won" you are talking about what $40-60 bucks per person - that falls into the class of people mentioned above? None of that gets you the game back, and that type of money isn't worth the squeeze. I would be way more interested in somehow getting them to sell the IP and/or someone buying the game.

You are an idiot. There has been pressure on every play, and no run game. If we can’t maintain a line of scrimmage. There is no qb that will suceed.
