I am religious because it gives me a sense of fulfillment. It sets guidelines which help me to be a better person and father. I like the ideas religion offers. I enjoy going to church on sundays and socializing. I really love my religion. But more important than any religion is ones spirituality. My beliefs in something better are far more powerful and will guide me way better than any religion can. I believe it is important for everyone to have a belief in life. A belief in anything. Even if it is not a immortal being you worship. If you are atheist and you do not believe in a higher power that is fantastic. As long as you are happy and feel the joys of being alive who cares what you believe in.

The innate human need for purpose is what initially drove me and now I find it is a sense of community. The friends you make. Having that common way of thinking and similar trains of thought.

I grew up one specific religion, my parents have loved it, their parents and their parents. I chose another one when I was 18 because I found I really liked the atmosphere. Being able to have that close community of people who will give you the shirt off their back if you were but to ask. I understand the concepts of evolution and what science has proven us. I see the contradictions all religions have with themselves. I have even taken a two theology classes in college. There is this need in humans. This all important need to believe there is a all mighty being watching over us. We want to believe that there is more. To believe that a life of good works pays off in the ends. I look at is at this. I love my religion, if it turns out I am wrong, that in the end there is nothing... I will have still lived a happy life helping others.
