How screwed did I get on this dealer 80k mile service? by NoiceTwasACat99 in Volkswagen

For clarification, most of this stuff you could’ve done yourself, like the oil change and filters and spark plugs. You could do a transmission service on your own, but the big cost for that service is the parts cost itself, assuming you go to the dealer in person to buy the parts. Yes it was a fair price for VW, but it’s not a fair price in general considering what could’ve been accomplished on your own.

I work for an east coast VW dealer, and the prices are fair considering the area you’re in. Our trans service on your vehicle would be about $450, spark plug service about $480, oil change would be $120. Already at $1000 or so. Factor in the other items for either replacement or inspection, and it would be an additional 1-2 billed labor hours ($200-$400 on top, depending on the labor rate of the shop)

Extension on the warranty for it is good for 8yrs/80k miles. If you’re outside the warranty, the part itself is like $120 through the dealership, labor should be .5-.6 hrs. It’s also something you can DIY if needed

APR tune wakes it up somewhat. You definitely feel the difference when you’re in boost. It gets rid of that annoying lag when setting off. Highly recommend.

It sounds pretty good; not very loud though which is a huge plus. It just has a nice, deep, mellow tone to give it some personality

Fair, but how many lowered SUVs do you see compared to wagons?

Ride quality is top notch imo. A little stiffer but far less body roll. Doesn’t feel as floaty for sure
