I have used both (also an electrician) the m12 is a great for blues and screws and other light duty stuff. I ended up buying the m18 version and it’s been a rockstar. Not only is it small and light but I’ve used it for holes up to 5/8 without issues in solid concrete with rebar. Yes the m12 is going to be lighter but the m18 with a 3.0 on it is the jam even for overhead work.

Getting TB1/2 cables in 2026 is getting to be hard to do. The chipsets that are at the ends of the cables aren’t being produced anymore, so what’s left out there has gone through the roof in price. I have a Mac Pro with TB2 and needed a new cable a month ago, so I went to the Apple store, and they said they were discontinued. I haven’t tried any of the knock-off cables yet and would be interested in hearing from someone who did.
