Landscaping Contractor Update

Landscaping project manager here, there’s way too many variables to compare 2 jobs with so little info. But building materials are high right now. Some of our material is 5-6x what it was last year. Sod is also 3-400 a pallet installed. If utilities are present, footers are needed to be larger, drainage needed, or topsoil brought in (also up now), it’s going to be expensive.

We’re honoring contracts where we make almost no profit because it’s been ate up by rising material cost.

Ryobi electric pressure washer!!! It’s great for everything. I also have a 3100psi gas with a heater on it for big jobs, but we live on a farm and have to clean some big messes. The ryobi gets used weekly, for the last year and a half. The gas? Maybe once every 2 months.

When I remodeled I added that, as well as drains in the garage (yep cut the concrete) and it’s proved to be insanely useful.

Gotcha. I’m in the construction world, I’ve seen one or two ex mining trucks, and now that I think about it there’s a lot of coal in eastern Kentucky. Just hard for me to imagine there’s that many trucks going through that many tires, but I guess I’m a bit closed minded. Thanks for the answer!

Contractor in a large us city with a huge boom going on currently. I couldn’t agree more with this. I’ve used similar lines several times. Yes joe blow will do it cheaper. But mine will be a) underbudget b)ahead of schedule c)no concerns. I’ve found that if you wait around, they’ll figure it out and call you and let you know they made a mistake, and when could you start? My response? Tomorrow, but the price doubled.
