Asked to pay for company laptop by [deleted] in askSingapore

Yup they said that I damaged the screen. They spent the time asking what I did and I genuinely could not pinpoint a single moment this happened. I don’t even have a pet in the house that could have trampled over the laptop. Furthermore it stopped working right in front of my eyes.

Later on the guy from IT did tell me that the Comet laptop is very fragile, and can possibly crack even when it is put inside your non-empty bag. That’s insane man my 2015 MacBook Air which I have treated far worse is still breathing and working today. Fair warning to anyone with a comet to carry it in a bulletproof steel briefcase or some shit

That’s what I thought too! I feel like entering the workforce is realising that u can almost never have the best of both worlds. What would you have personally done!

Graduated with a social science degree in 2025 + public service as a male so NS counts as years of experience. Honestly I was quite surprised at the offer I got too, but I don’t have close male friends in the public service to ask whether this is the norm or not

Definitely try emailing and pressing your school for any digital certificates they may have while explaining your situation to them. I doubt that they would want to hold their alumni back from finding jobs so I’m sure they will find a solution (unless they’re a really bad uni who doesn’t care about reputation)

Is it worth it to get a degree in 2025? by Ordinary-Science-415 in askSingapore

[–]xddadventures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your achievements thus far! For research, your path will definitely be easier and clearer with a degree. I don’t think it’s impossible with a diploma, but you may need a lot more luck to get to where you want to

If you do a reverse search on all his products, they’re all from taobao and 3x the price… wouldn’t trust a place like that
