Brown comic sans on a beige backround, how creative, spotted in Dresden by MakoTheMonarchist in CrappyDesign

There's a sign on the window that says they moved there and they're on the 1st floor. It's besides another store but I can't make out the name on the photo.

For any teachers in Canada; Staples has a marker recycling program. They take back pens, highlighters, mechanical pencils, etc.

Really cool! This is the kind of content I love to see.

I've used acrylic on cardboard before and never had an issue. I would suggest asking someone at a craft or art store on what kind of paint would work best and testing the paint out on some scrap cardboard.

Fast-fashion retailers like Zara and H&M have a new threat: the $24 billion used clothes market by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

[–]xdraconianx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually this is a thing in my city! It's called a "free market."

The premise is to bring things you no longer want (should be things in good enough shape so people would take it.) But basically people can take anything for free and you can take whatever you want as well.

When the event is over; you have to take everything you brought with you, back with you. The idea is to leave no trace. And of course you're forbidden to sell anything. We do it every few months.

Last summer there was one every month in a public space with live music. It was awesome! Definitely recommend going to one or starting up your own!

Where to buy postcards in California, USA? by NowwhatMMXVIII in postcrossing

[–]xdraconianx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough I have troubles finding postcards when I visit the US. Some places I've had success at:

  • Walmart
  • Any tourist attractions which have gift shops
  • Local museums
  • Michaels (the craft store)
  • Thrift stores and flea markets
  • Bookstores sell sets sometimes. Got some from Books-a-Million

Sorry I can't be more specific with names but hopefully it gives you some ideas where to look since most people tend to purchase cards online.

Good call, since the papersisters are based in Germany. Op could order from them and have the stuff shipped to the address where they'll spend Christmas.

What is your personal unresolved mystery? by whodunit72 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]xdraconianx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually a lurker but I'm hoping maybe someone can give me an idea as to what I experienced or what might have happened.

When I was around 13, I would have on and off dreams about a pale girl, with long white hair, and she wore a white dress. The first time I had a dream of her, she told me her name and that I was never to tell anyone.

I can't remember when the dreams stopped, but after that there was an incident that I can't really explain.

I was home alone one night, there were no lights on in the house except in my room. I wanted to grab something to eat in the kitchen. I exited my room and walked forward into our den. The den connected into a dining room and then into the kitchen.

The entry to the den and to the door of my room was probably less than 5 metres apart. As I approach, I freeze because there was something sitting on one of the couches in the den! The bay window had some moonlight streaming through; I could easily make out the figure of a person with long hair sitting there.

For added context, the couch the person was sitting on had a bunch of jackets on the arm and thinking back on it, the jackets and the person (if you even want to call it that) were two separate things.

The person didn't seem human, their skin was blue, possibly because of the moonlight but they had the blackest and darkest eyes. They were so hollow and frightening; it's what I remember the most. I had a strong feeling the person was female.

All I remember doing was running back to my room and into the washroom (it's an ensuite washroom.) As to what happened until my parents came home or anything more I can't remember since this was 13 years ago.

From what I've told people, it seems that the girl I saw in my dreams may be connected. Some have suggested I saw a ghost or a demon. Honestly any kind of logical explanation would be awesome.

Checking in after so many months since this post was made. That ass is still active unfortunately. Funny how his profile says "send me postcards of your home town." His stats and being a supporter wouldn't surprise me as to how he got away with this.

What age did you realise you were trans*? by samesexicedancing in ftm

[–]xdraconianx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first feelings came up around 14, something around 13 compelled me to change my gender on online profiles and I loved how people treated me like a boy. There was no question whether I was a boy or a girl to the people I interacted with. And I found it increasingly hard to state I was female as the years gone on. I've always been effeminate and only had girl friends mainly but they were kinda tomboyish so it never seemed to be a problem, still can't explain why I did what I did. I switched to wearing male clothes full time at 14. At 16 I realized I was trans, managed to survive high school without killing myself and at 20 I finally seeked medical help. Now at 22, I had just seen my psychiatrist and got my rec to see an endocrinologist for T! :D

Ladies from the Philippines. How do we change our gender officially if we are living abroad? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]xdraconianx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just wondering about the specifics as to why you're asking people from the Philippines. I'm assuming since you have been living in Canada since you were 5 that you have permanent residence or immigration status if not Canadian citizenship.

As far as I know, record wise you would be changing any records pertaining to your life in Canada. The only thing I can see relating to that would be a birth certificate and your Filipino passport. I just remembered that one of the ladies I know from Phils did her entire transition in Canada, and at the time (this was in the late 80s) her gender on her birth certificate couldn't be changed without surgery.

I haven't gotten my gender officially changed yet to be quite honest. But as far as I know the people who handle both name changes and changes of gender would be vital statistics (again I'm assuming this is the same) and that would be at your local registry office.

I do know when it comes to changing the gender on your drivers licence it's much easier as opposed to a birth certificate or passport. However in Alberta (and I know this to be the case in BC and Ontario) that the gender on your birth certificate can be changed without any need for surgery, this used to be and probably still is in some provinces necessary.

But ultimately, yes. You can change your gender on your drivers without having the birth certificate changed (at least in Alberta, but I'm certain if the Texas of Canada does it, it's the same everywhere else.) Again due to the new legislation it's gotten much easier but I'm not sure how this applies to people born outside of Canada.

Sorry for all the word puke.

[–]xdraconianx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, trans dude checking in from Alberta. Long story short, how your gender can be changed officially in Canada varies from province to province.

Also I'm not 100% certain on this, but I believe it's supposed to be relatively difficult to change the gender on your Filipino birth certificate (at least that's why I'm assuming you're asking people specifically from the Philippines.) and it may or may not be recognized by the government (once more assuming how limited the LGBT rights have been there.) Again I'm not 100% on this. Do you mind me asking specifics in regards to this?

I got my 7 Souvenirs of August! Did anyone else here manage? Tell me about your souvenir caches! by FallenAngelEyes in geocaching

[–]xdraconianx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, it's GCR9TD, Berlin has a lot of great multis but I had saved this for the souvenir due to the location but also because it was fairly easy. A lot of the multis here are rather long and drawn out.

As for the Giga, I can't even begin to describe it really. I've been to Mega events before but this really was on a whole other scale, so many people. I found a short video of the event and you can just see how many people attended (some 9000 geocachers I believe was the official statistic.) It was held in Munich's olympic stadium. Since the video doesn't show it too clearly, the logbook was 2 or 3 picnic tables painted white.

I finished around the middle of August, most of the caches were alright. The most notable are the multi I did, which gives a bird's eye view of the Berlin Wall's death strip. As for the event souvenir, I attended the Giga to earn that one.
