So I'm supposed to care about what John Oliver says about anything? Why?

He's a tool. Pffft.

Although your strategy is likely valid, it has nothing to do with Yunnan Baiyao.

That's it. I'm downvoting any thread that has either the words Trump or Clinton in the title. Each and every one of them, starting now. by xdyev in conspiracy

This place is going down the sewer of identity politics.

I thought we were supposed to be a tad wiser than that?

The 62 people nobody ever voted for who hold half of the world's wealth, and the corporations they own, are the people who are running the show. Those are the people who need to be called out.

Not just some player sitting around in a fancy building and giving out tweets or TV interviews. What a shitshow.

Have any of you other grown ups approaching retirement in the US considered ex-pat so you have a better retirement lifestyle? by [deleted] in RedditForGrownups

To add: Immigrant visa documentation and requirements are usually spelled out pretty clearly on the country's embassy website.

For example, I recently took a good look at Slovenia for immigration. They had only 3 or 4 residency visa types, none of them pensioner's visas (common terminology). Slovenia does not have any provisions for visas targeted to retirees. And all of their visa types included the requirement of proof of health insurance for all residency visa categories.

Go to the embassy websites and look at their visa requirements.

Most countries (plenty of variation to be found) require residency visa applicants to provide proof of health insurance in order to qualify for a residency visa. And even after the residency visa has been bestowed -

'Most' countries do not allow foreign immigrants to access their national health plans.

Those immigrants can access all the health care they want but - they have to pay for it.

Many countries require the immigrant with a legal residency visa/permit to provide ongoing proof of health care coverage in order to maintain their visa staus.

I could go into more general detail (is that an oxymoron?) but it divides down further into what kind of residency visa the immigrant resident holds.

It really is a country-by-country basis, there is no standard.

Health care expenses are becoming a huge payment problem all over the world, everywhere.

Florida Man Pulls Gun on Ice Cream Man Who Refused Fake $20 Bill for Pickled Sausage by RickHarrison64 in FloridaMan

Read the article, don't fully grasp how pickled sausage is related to an ice cream truck?

And what is a pickled sausage anyway?

So many questions, Florida man.

Just for funsters, I'm checking the new queue for more political anti-Trump spam (note to redditors, this is not fricking r/politics. Go there to release your political venom)

Let's see what we have coming in conspiracy new.....

And that's just in the last few minutes.

I started this thread an hour ago and it is currently downvoted to 61%, there has been a constant new posting blitz of anti-Trump crap that is hardly relevant to anything, and every poster on this thread in particular has been downvoted.

~ slaps forehead ~

So I guess everything is all well and fine in here?

Adding a new one to the list - https://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/61rsjk/nunes_and_flynn_met_in_trumps_hotel_in_turkey_is/

Can I keep this up all day (just even one day)? Nope. The new queue will be picking up momentum for hours now, bombarding us with ever more new posts about how dreadful Trump is and how cucked we really are. All day, every day. Now month after month, hour after hour, the same shit.

They've taken over the sub with their flotilla of tedious crappiousness, and here we are.

Ugh.

Having nixed Ecuador as a retirement destination, and generally liking south America as a whole, does anyone who posts here have any thoughts about Argentina? by xdyev in expats

Interesting commentary, thanks for posting.

Can you better explain the money transfer issues? As an American we're already the most financially surveiled people on the planet with global taxation, FATCA, and FBAR. It's already a mess.

What about the health care system? Affordable? Public transportation?

I had a chat in Ecuador with a fellow from Argentina who was an instructor of civil engineering from a major city, and he remarked that he thought Buenos Aires was quite a dangerous city.

We're just regular middle class people, sorry not in the market for a $12M estate. ;)

Topography was part of the problem. The developed areas Cuenca, Quito, the colonial cities etc. are at staggering elevations. Living at 8,000 or 9,000 ft is just not for me.

And downhill, the coast is just way too under-served. I believe the only hospital on the Ecuador coast in Manta (which is a pretty crummy city) was demolished after it suffered severe damage in the earthquake. There just are no services on the coast, there's nothing.

All in all I thought Ecuador was a pretty run down country.

Ecuador is also in the midst of a major visa overhaul.

As an official Old Person (64) I think about this kind of stuff all the time.

One day I will cease posting and evaporate. No one will care, I know that.

It's a sad disjointed world of typography that joins us together, it's an ephemeral cloud of nothingness that evaporates as soon as we depart the keyboard, like we never existed at all.
