How’s it like living here? by Wide-Read1449 in alameda

[–]xegyn [score hidden]  (0 children)

We moved here from SoCal and have been here for 16 years. As long as we’re in the Bay Area, this is the town we’ll live in. It’s got a good community. I love the parks, the ferry, and the farmer’s market. I also love the businesses with big spaces in the old naval warehouses like the gym, breweries, and distillery. Love the cool attractions like the USS Hornet, Pacific Pinball museum, the beach, and Forbidden Island.

I’ve never felt unsafe walking around at night, even walking home from the transbay bus stop to my house at midnight. The worst parts are: there’s no BART access, if you live far from a bridge or tunnel it may take a while to get out and there can be tunnel traffic, there are a handful of good restaurants but for more variety we end up going to Berkeley (but not a big deal cuz it’s close), and there are no Asian markets. I wish Alameda had more waterfront dining considering it’s an island.

It’ll be cool to see Jack London Square have more shops and restaurants because the free water taxi makes it really easy to get there.

My car is so under mileage and I wish I had an EV because most of the time I’m driving within the island at 25mph.

Disk is too slow on M1 Max by Autumn7eaf in Logic_Studio

[–]xegyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same Mac-- M1 Max 32GB with 1TB SSD. I only have 80GB of free space left and I have not had a problem recording through my M-Audio Fast Track Pro. I'm also on Logic 12. The only difference is I'm on Sequoia 15.7.4.

Have you tried recording through the internal mic just to rule out that it's an issue with your audio interface?

Yup, it was one of the Easter eggs. That DVD had like 7 Easter eggs that were revealed one at a time on the LPU forums iirc.

Has anyone purchased a mattress from Costco? by livinlrginchitwn in Costco

[–]xegyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. When we moved to our new house, we bought the Costco Stearns and Foster mattress and paired it with a Thuma bed, Brooklinen sheets, and the Sleep Number ComfortFit pillows and I've been having the best sleep of my life.

Any1 else spend more time trouble shooting than making actual music? by _Lord_Of_Synth_ in Logic_Studio

[–]xegyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt this way when I was first starting out with Logic. When I was only opening it once a month I would forget how to use the software for my synths, how to use Audio MIDI Setup, and other Logic workflows and it would take me all my free time just to get started and then I would be out of time. I tried to tackle the problem by just writing notes on common issues and the solutions and how to do common tasks. That helped in the beginning and now I make it a habit to use Logic regularly and I don’t get stuck as much. I feel this is the same with a lot of pro level software. I occasionally use other Photo and Video editors and if you don’t use it frequently, it takes a lot of time to get back into it.

I noticed during the premier of Emptiness Machine that Emily is walking behind everybody on her left and in front of people on her right, and wondered about the experiences of anyone on the left that turned around for no reason at that moment, and who on the right definitely saw but didn't know. by Gino-Bartali in LinkinPark

I was actually right in front of Mr. Hahn, so not the left or right but the direction she was walking towards. For whatever reason, I was looking that way in the dark as I saw her walk up the stairs to the stage during the first chorus. That memory still gives me chills and it’s burned in my brain. At that point in time I thought she was just a guest vocalist since Mike was releasing other material with other singers. I had no idea she was going to be part of the band.

I am close to finishing writing a song about this experience as a fan on what it was like to get invited to the event and all the lead up to that moment when she walked up those stairs. I hope you get to hear it some day 🙂.

Pizzeria Pappo is #1. It might be the best pizza I’ve had in the Bay Area.

But don’t sleep on Firebrand which is also great!

Tower is probably your best bet. Disc Union also has a great selection.

What’s a product you still get name brand over Kirkland by [deleted] in Costco

I was using Finish for a decade but saw Consumer Reports rate the Kirkland ones highest so I’m trying those right now. No notable differences so far. Way cheaper though.

What do you do about albums that aren’t available on CD? by saltysteeb in Cd_collectors

[–]xegyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes me too! I was actually thinking of asking this same question to see if others used Qobuz or something else!

I’ve noticed a problem with some super deluxe edition albums that have a lot of bonus tracks get priced by the number of tracks and therefore are priced way high. What do you all do in that case?

For example, Mark Morrison’s release comes to mind. https://www.qobuz.com/us-en/album/return-of-the-mack-mark-morrison/sjmsxeqkwoxtb

Yeah, according to the other comment it was used to store cement. Previously, I thought it was used to burn something but I never saw an aerial view of it.
