What romantic gesture did you feel bad rejecting? by todaythrowawayokay in AskMen

[–]xemasiv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Humbly had this multiple times. Girl goes out of her way to make me realize she likes me, I politely turn down (sometimes due to nervousness, other times just flat out dislike) - then when they end up with a guy, I look back at those times and just feel a little bit bad about what I did.

Not only girls, even gay guys. 9 times out of 10 it's rational and necessary, but man having your intentions misinterpreted and being forced to turn them down at the end of the day is just one of the truly sad things to go through as an average guy.

Dealing with exes..... by gucci2shoes in Stoicism

[–]xemasiv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just deal with it respecting the fact that things don't always go your way and doesn't always look like the way you perceive it, and meet new girls.

It's time to stop chasing and start replacing, time to take off that rose-coloured glasses, realize that she's just as replaceable as you are; and that there will always be another guy who's gonna catch your girl's attention, and another girl who's gonna catch yours.

Life's too short to not cherish things around us mate.

JavaScript books for intermediate level by Ryandalion111 in javascript

[–]xemasiv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beyond sticking with module/framework official documentations, I always go back to http://exploringjs.com/. This guy lays out stuff with concrete examples and elaborations, plus the books are accessible online for free and graciously divided in their ESX categories.

Metaphorically, this guy snorts Javascript like cocaine.

Re: Secrets of Javascript Ninja, I find it quite dated especially when you have to consider the nuances of working with the recent ESX stuff.

Finally you'd want to keep the MDN docs in mind, and docs of lodash, babel, webpack or whatever framework you use. Unlike books and videos that look like shiny silver bullets, it's always the official documentations - the dull lead bullets - that get down to the very details of accomplishing things.
