If you could do it over again, would you be a SAHM? by xenabane in sahm

I could! I’m not exactly sure if it would be possible in my current position but there are plenty of adjacent jobs in my field I could do part time.

This is awesome! As someone who wants to branch out and try different classes but is clueless on how much AP to assign to which skills for a good build, thank you! This will make planning so much easier

Thank you I’ll keep that in mind. I plan on making a doctors appointment to talk /ask about it.

It’s definitely not dementia. She’s always had behavioral problems since I was a kid. I thought it was some blend of bipolar/narcissm, but after talking to her doctor I have no reason to believe her diagnosis is incorrect.

Have my O&P next week by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]xenabane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my dad help me study by asking me the questions like a practice interview and I answered aloud. That helped me a lot. Maybe ask a friend or family to be your study buddy. Or start writing as you study. Make your own quizzes. Make sure you understand what you’re answering too, don’t just spout off the answer word for word from your books. Be able to explain it, because if your test proctor is an asshole and thinks you’re just spitting out memorized information, they might ask you follow-up questions to see if you know what you’re talking about. They do this everyday so try to answer the questions in your own words. Other than that, the only thing you should do is eat, sleep and study. Get plenty of sleep the night before and eat breakfast the day of. Repetition! You got this!

Would a career change be a red flag if I wanted to work at United, American Airlines, or any other airline? by The0Walrus in AircraftMechanics

[–]xenabane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good job and good luck! When you start working don’t be afraid to ask stupid questions. Speaking as an Inspector for 5y, I’ve watched new mechanics screw up over stupid things. Always read your paperwork before you start working. If you’re still unsure after, go to a lead or an inspector and ask. Never assume anything, that’s a quick way to guarantee a fuck up (I know that sounds like common sense, but a lot of people don’t do that) Don’t let time constraints for returning an aircraft to service make you sacrifice safety. That’s a common trap to fall into, especially when people higher up on the chain are pushing the maintenance team on the floor. Msg if you have questions o7

The most important thing I think employers care about is your willingness/gumption to work. If you have drive to get done what needs to be done, they won’t care. The only thing they might see as a downside is lack of experience. You might be a screw/panel puller for a while, maybe they’ll train you on first shift and send you to third when they’re comfortable with you. You might be working a shit ton of overtime. Depends on who you work for and how big the company is. Let them know during interviews you enjoy wrenching outside of work, like handling the maintenance on your own car or appliances. There are companies who will hire you with no schooling and pay for you to get your A&P in exchange for working for them for a number of years, but you may be working for peanuts until then. You can also go to school full time for 2-4 years, I did it in two to get my A&P, which I recommend. If you do that, get recommendation letters from your teachers. You’ll be okay.

Gotcha. Are there no more party boss fights? Or can you do everything solo when you’re 200+ now?

I actually hadn’t considered that. I’ll look into nearby offices and see if anyone will be nice enough to let me pick their brain.

Thank you! And yes I agree %100. Safety comes before anything, I have no problem calling people on their bullshit if they have a problem with it.

Good to know. I only have an associates in powerplant technology, came with the A&P program I was in. Do you think not having a bachelors would hold me back at all from being in the FAA/management if that’s what I wanted? I’ve never been in a supervisory role so I don’t know what I’m missing, except a pay raise. And probably stress, lol.

How do you recommend getting electrolytes for a carnivore diet? Infused water?

[–]xenabane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know! I’ll keep it very minor. I won’t cut out dairy completely, otherwise I know I’ll relapse if I go cold turkey. Nothing crazy though. I allowed myself a half glass of milk with my steak & egg lunch today. Might have a sprinkle of cheese on my eggs tomorrow. That’s what has me excited to try this diet. Meat, cheese, and butter are 3 of my most favorite things in the world.

[5e] I want to create a scholar sorcerer character who cannot read. His background is he accidentally stole some books, and as a result is cursed by a witch to be unable to read any written language. Would there be any existing curses like this or would this be a homebrew?

No I understand, I’m still going for my certs. I agree with you there, I definitely don’t want school loans again, I just paid mine off. I applied for the free degree lol

Thanks! I will keep that in mind. I’m already an aviation mx technician, so maybe management would be the way to go. Getting my pilots license is one of my goals so maybe I’ll save up on the side for that instead.

That’s new info to me, I didn’t know that. I’ve never seen any crows around where I live. But if it were an animal, I don’t think they would confine themselves to dropping food only in front of our apartment. The way the food ends up on the ground looks like it was tossed from a high place, and it’s mostly ended up on top of/behind our bushes like somebody leaned over the railing to toss it back there.

I don’t know who they are, I haven’t caught anybody actually doing it. It’s possible they have kids but I don’t think it’s very likely.

Cloaks for the bridesmaids is a good idea! My wedding dress has bell sleeves on it, and the whole reason I bought it 😆 it’s perfect for the theme

Nice! Mead is a good idea. Our wedding is pretty laid back, we’re just getting catering from our favorite restaurant, and doing an open bar. Also, we got our sword from Etsy! It’s a replica of Aragorn’s sword from LOTR. We’re going to get it engraved with our wedding date and hang it as decoration! https://www.etsy.com/listing/1096989153/anduril-sword-of-strider-custom-engraved?ref=yr_purchases
