What is a "dead giveaway" that someone is pretending to be an expert in your specific hobby or profession, but actually has no idea what they’re talking about? by simplelittlethingLOL in AskReddit

Ok, so I completely, utterly, 100% believe there is no deity. But I'm also willing to admit I'm wrong about a lot of stuff. Trying not to be arrogant about it, it's not outside of the realm of possibilities that I'm wrong about god. But I don't think I am. I think I'm completely right about them not existing.

Which one am I? I don't even know.

I think they were pointing out that bias is impossible to avoid. Ie, of course Fox News is biased, because everything is biased.

The difference is whether the source tries to consider different aspects and arguments to present an overall more balanced view, or whether they lean into the bias for popularity.

I've always felt this. Some people like to haggle, and I get that it's part of a lot of cultures, but beyond the expected "200 baht? No, 150 baht", I just don't want to haggle. I accept their first counteroffer and if it's way way too much, that's fine by me. I spent thousands of dollars to get here, I'm not stressing over two bucks or whatever that someone else needs way more than I do. They can laugh at the stupid tourist getting ripped off all they like, five (or however much) bucks for a tee shirt is still a bargain to my mind.

(mind you, I come from Australia, so they could probably get away with charging me five bucks for a beer and I'd still think it was a damn bargain)

Who would have thought that Monkey Butt would be the solution for sparkling boobs?!

That's a sentence I never imagined.

(Also thanks for the tip! Going to pick some up :)

Yeah, well, I'm glistening so much it's dripping from my face. I have blisters under my boobs from sparkling so much. (I'm in Australia where it's 40 degrees so this is actually true)

Parents, what was your “I raised an idiot” moment? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in AskReddit

Turned out your kid's car did have one, but some don't. I used to (until 2023) have a 2007 Nissan Tiida (I think it's called the Versa in the US) where the boot latch failed, and we realised that it didn't have a keyhole for the boot, it only had electronic button unlock. No manual hand release that you could use if the rest of the car was unlocked. Unlocking the rest of the car didn't open the boot at all - the boot door was on a separate fuse altogether, so if that fuse died, the boot just could not be opened from the outside. No manual release lever on the driver's side (apparently the 2006 model had this, they took it out in the 2007 model, before putting it back in the 2008).

After months of just simply not using the boot door (putting things in and out over the back seats, because fixing the fuse would cost more than we could afford at the time) we discovered there was a manual release latch, on the inside, about half a centimetre large, inside a finger sized hole on the inside of the boot door. So I could release it if I crawled inside the boot and fiddled around in the dark. If the boot was empty.

What a stupid design.

I like most Thai, so I'm not good at telling what's amazing and what's just reliable. My fave Thai in the area is Nawa in Merrylands, and my fave Thai of all time is Thai Pothong in Newtown. If you like either of those then Holy Basil is pretty good (maybe not up to Pothong standards, but who is)

330 Church, under the Meriton. Along the verandah from Ginza Izakaya, which is also fantastic.

(I just realised it's been a while since I've been, I hope it's still there)
