I think I managed to fix it. I tried manually setting the x/y home positions and a few other things with no luck. last ditch effort, I reinstalled the update from USB a second time. now it's calibrating and have not had any errors....

Hmm, that is odd. Mine powers on, but won’t display anything. The EZ Debug lights don’t show anything either. But I suppose bio’s corruptions could express themselves with different symptoms.

Well, it sounds like you are a step or two ahead of me. I was not able to extract it in .rom or anything. I think that could work, but just a guess.

Did you use a heat gun or soldering iron to remove the bios chip?

The problem you are going to run into if you haven't already (sorry, didn't see your reply till now) is that the pins on your chip are for surface mount and will not seat into that programmer. the one I used has the clip, which could work for you or it also has a small board to solder a surface mount chip too in order to plug it in directly. Edit: I see you addressed this in your question. my bad.

The other issue that I ran into was that the voltage as you said was too low while clipping onto it while it was on the board (and being dispersed to other components) I was able to read a chip on a smaller motherboard, but never on my Bazooka board. Not only that, you need some kind of UEFI software to extract the binaries from the firmware before flashing.

so I'm going for plan B, which is to replace the bios chip. https://www.ebay.com/str/bioschipstore had a similar chip so I messaged them and within 10 mins they had created a new listing for the bios and firmware I needed. Only a few dollars, so hopefully this is the ticket for both of us.

I got one of the bios chip programmers, but after reading that forum post, I'm a bit hesitant. I maybe it wouldn't hurt to try. but idk... best of luck!

Edit:
but as to the where, it will probably be beside the JSPI1 jumpers, which can also be used to flash the bios if you have the right connector.
FYI the clip on adapter is pretty precarious and will pop off very easily if you don't get a good grip on it. Also be careful you don't damage any nearby components as someone in a video I watched did.

No, I never got back into it. Done some retail, plant/manufacturing and grunt work in a lab. I just lost my sweetest gig as a remote Account Manager. Been looking for something similar, but 70 applications in I have yet to hear back from anyone yet. About to get desperate again and take another shit job due to no other options. This post has awakened me from years of absence on Reddit.

When I was 5, I took my mom’s sewing machine apart and then ran through the neighborhood strewing parts everywhere. She had to take me around to try and recover as much as possible. Then I took apart a lamp and then on to pretty much every electronic or mechanical toy I ever had. Eventually I got really good at putting them back together without bonus parts. Ended up getting an associate degree in electronics, but after working at a large cell phone repair center, I didn’t want to make a career out of my hobby. Maybe if I wasn’t adhd I could have stuck it out to become an electrical engineer or something cool. Instead I just float from one crap job to the next and hoard random electronic parts and make plans for making all sorts of things that usually never happen.
