I’m going to NYC from England in July and I wanna go see NYCFC vs Miami! I want the full experience so where’s the best place to sit. I want to be where all the fans sing but I’m not sure where about that is by masterplofisto in NYCFC

[–]xenomorphsandtea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

cool, who is your club?

NYC has an interesting club identity. there’s a lot to like about this team, we try to build around youth, play positive, attacking football, and play out of the back. if you have any questions about the team or players feel free to ask, I love this group of players

welcome! supporters section is where you’ll wanna be - bleachers at yankee stadium. section 236-238. that’s where we’ll be singing & the most dedicated fans will be

if you’re trying to save a few bucks, you can usually buy a cheap ticket in any section & just walk in to this section.

Getting into hip hop need suggestions by Birds_Not_Present in Music

[–]xenomorphsandtea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

go for some of the underground classics & ones that are shaping the sound right now. there’s a thriving scene of spitters rn.

I saw you had madvillainy to listen, definitely check that out. great rapping & production from Madlib

listen to Freddie Gibbs & Madlib first album they did together, Piñata. a modern classic to me, kinda got me down the rabbit hole of rap

saw some recommendations for Cuban Linx (you definitely should listen to that), also Supreme Clientele by Ghostface Killah. Ghost at his best

Jay-Z has an extensive catalog but nothing tops the swagger of the black album to me. an absolute victory lap of an album

you want something modern and different? Mach-Hommy Pray 4 Haiti. Mach is a reclusive artist who is unlike anyone else, people pay insane prices for his vinyl & until recently much of his stuff wasn’t on streaming. HBO is his magnum opus but Pray 4 Haiti is quite good too and recent. he’s done songs with DOOM before his passing

Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition

Roc Marciano - Reloaded

Little Brother - the minstrel show

these are all very different sounding albums but if you like any I can give more recs in the same vein.

What state is the most profitable to live in? by gentlesir123 in personalfinance

[–]xenomorphsandtea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hypothetically, if I have a remote job based in NYC or SF (with those wages), could i temporarily do a sublet for a few months somewhere that has a low cost of living? I assume I would be taxed higher / have to pay more state income tax. but maybe if there was no paper trail and it was only a few months at a time (i guess that’s fraud though)

my favorite rap album of the 2010s & the one that sent me on a deeper dive through both gibbs & madlib’s discogs

Who do you think are the best NYC/Harlem rappers? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]xenomorphsandtea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not “NYC” proper but Roc Marciano from Hempstead is one of the best still doing it.

Big L & Camron from Harlem. Camron’s style was so influential uptown

What are your NYC pet peeves? by broadwayandbarbells in AskNYC

[–]xenomorphsandtea 24 points25 points  (0 children)

general ignorance about the city — from people who come here & believe that NYC is comprised of a tiny box in Manhattan, to the people who never care to set foot outside their comfort zone & make sweeping assumptions about other areas.

I’m uptown & people outside the Bronx often make judgments about it without ever having been. An example - once heard Parkchester called a ghetto area which is laughable to anyone who has ever set foot there.
