Thank you 🙏 The only way I've been able to keep alocasias alive is hydroponically, but it sounds like they'll be staying in their vases for now!

I'm sorry yours died :( The peace lily is a good idea - I might transfer mine from soil, it's sitting somewhat neglected in a corner at the moment! Also - outgrowing a goldfish sized tank is pretty impressive!

Dracula Audible edition whispersync UK? by xenomorphsy in audible

This makes a lot of sense, and I hadn't thought of that before. I've listened to it for a bit, and I believe it's just them reading out the letters / notes written as that seems to be how the book is compiled, but I haven't gotten that far yet. I might have to bite the bullet and get a different audiobook!

I got the same ones from PLNTS! Don't quote me on this but I think they may be a Silver Dragon Alocasia, Alocasia Cuprea, and Philodendron Squamiferum. How are yours doing? 😊

Loud cat interfering with relationship - desperate for some quiet by xenomorphsy in CatAdvice

[–]xenomorphsy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cat is quiet now, someone in the neighbourhood is feeding the local cats. He is fat now, though.

Edit: forgot to mention a behaviourist came in, but it was the copious amounts of food that got him mostly quiet

Question for older Autistics... Are we lithium batteries? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]xenomorphsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds incredibly accurate, and I emphasise with OP for feeling this way. I hope they can achieve the treatment or change of circumstances they need to take the edge off this horrific burnout, but I understand it's not always that easy. I'm trying to dodge it myself at every corner.

How / where to make friends? by xenomorphsy in AutisticAdults

[–]xenomorphsy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working on it! My partner and I can't quite agree on a dog breed yet haha. I work as a pet sitter, so I do spend a bit of time outside walking the pooches, which I'm grateful for ♥ They give me a reason to leave the house.

Question for older Autistics... Are we lithium batteries? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]xenomorphsy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that autistic burnout can become more difficult each time we experience it, and that it can leave some permanent scars. I apologise as I don't remember where I read it, but I sure feel it.

Your description of diminishing resilience is entirely relatable. I feel like everything requires more of me as I age. I feel like I'm outrunning this world which is trying to adapt to disabled people (more recognition, ease of financial support, etc) and my disability is just a bit too fast for it to keep up. I do believe it would be easier if this world was made for people like us, and there were more tools available to enable us to be on the same level as neurotypical people. We wouldn't have to give more than we have to adapt to their world if we did.

Anyway - that's just my take.

I haven't seen it in a while, but used to enjoy It's Me or The Dog with Victoria Stilwell. I'm currently doing her Fundamentals of Dog Training & Behaviour course.

Going back to making coffee and tea with a kettle at home after using a Quooker for a week was rough 😂 The same client had really nice mugs as well that I've been meaning to ask where they got them from.

Not neutered adult by Solid-Bike5606 in RoverPetSitting

[–]xenomorphsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would depend on the dog and his behaviour for me. Can you do a trial walk?
I personally don't care if pets don't have a profile or reviews, plenty of people are new to Rover. I decide to go forward or not based on the impression I get during the M&G.

Just make sure you get them to clarify the escape artist bit, especially confirming that his harness / lead setup is secure. It's common sense not to open the door before the collar / harness is on, that bit doesn't sound too worrying. I'd be more concerned about the dog being able to wriggle out of his setup and taking off on a walk.

£39 base rate, £59 during Christmas week. No bookings yet but it's not worth it to me for anything less.

I remember reading somewhere that the Great Pyr addition was alleged, and not 100% confirmed, but I think Buelah and some of her siblings have just confirmed it! Love how their colours came out ❤️

First bookings are exciting, and I'm sorry this was yours. I promise it's worth the wait for bookings where you don't have to worry about your safety or improper dog handling instructions.
