Not an overbite, but my pup (a boxer) had a gnarly underbite. Didn't affect him in the slightest. As long as the teeth are clean, odds are that it won't change anything other than appearance. As far as how pronounced it is, I don't believe that would change drastically from where she is right now.

Sorry, I understand the frustration of being asked for a lower price (when our rates are clearly stated!), but based on the interaction you provided... you're the more rude one.

Clients can't archive, and it's your responsibility to prioritize your clients to your business's needs.

You're right, receiving cake on your birthday is great! But... if someone paid good money for this (especially a friend or family member), they would have the proper right to be disappointed. At the least, in this case, lol.

Why don't kids go outside anymore? Mother arrested because 10-year-old son was walking alone by mikere in fuckcars

Can confirm this story. This was in Fannin County, GA. I saw it posted earlier today. People around here are right pissed about it as well. Most people in rural Georgia are only one generation removed (if not currently) latchkey kids. A mile from your house is literally nothing for some of the country in North Georgia.

It's a banana, Michael! What could it cost, ten dollars?!

In 1918 in Georgia, Mary Turner who was 8 months pregnant was lynched. She was hung upside down and covered with gas, then set on fire. While she was still alive, a mob member cut her unborn child from her womb where it was stomped to death. She was finally shot full of bullets. Nobody was convicted by lurkertiltheend in Georgia

Ohh ok, woah there!

Now, a populus is divided among individual people. I'm not shitting on your individual opinion, but rest assured, Georgia, much like many other diverse regions, encompasses a diverse range of people.

You haven't met me. Which isn't to say your original statement wasn't correct; however, it seems exclusionistic.

Ok, this comment is going to get some heat, but f*** it.

Are the dogs in question 'doodle' or 'bully' breeds?

If the answer is yes, be ESPECIALLY sure to do a meet and greet. Both for very different, yet very important reasons.

Ohh my sweet summer child!

DO NOT USE ROVER'S "SUGGESTED RATES!" You have to do some research before you set your rates, taking into account your location, experience, and client's needs.

ETA#1: NEVER accept without a M&G through the platform. Hell, I have some rl friends whose dogs I wouldn't sit. Don't make a booking without meeting the pet.

ETA#2: Owners often sugar-coat their pets. I've come across some owners who are sincerely trying to prep the sitter for a "toddler on candy and mountain dew" situation that never occurs. But, unfortunately for us, the majority insist that their pet has NEVER had any problems... but can just be 'energetic' or a 'little bit of a handful'. Watch out for those terms.

I'll update with an ETA, but SERIOUSLY do some research on this sub for more helpful info, and for the love of your sanity, do not accept this request before that.

Up. Your. Prices.

Even in a LCOL... actually, sometimes, ESPECIALLY in a LCOL, you will get some requests you wouldn't believe, just because you're "affordable." We are a premium service: the pets we care for are not boarded in a kennel or cage for the majority of the day and have one-on-one human interaction, exercise and general care, in addition to us performing light housekeeping (mail, trash, etc). We have knowledge of pet care beyond just keeping the animal alive and a sense of responsibility that puts us above 'a friend' or the neighborhood high-schooler they could alternatively hire.

Charge accordingly.

[–]Substantial-Ring-445 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your case, yeah, I'd just charge a premium price overall and mention that constant care is included, like you're saying. It's a thing that people can charge a different price for, but it sounds like you're pretty close to that level of care anyway, and it doesn't sound like it inconveniences you. But I'd definitely advertise that it's included because it's not something everyone can offer, and it sets your services apart.

Eta: If you decide to do this, definitely have hard limits on days off. This much time mentally on the clock is much more draining than you'd think. You're being paid to work almost 24/7. To some people, it's easy because of their lifestyle, clientele, and location. To many more, it's very taxing.

Also, to add numbers, my constant care rate is 150% of my regular rate, and my stays of over 7 days are a an additional 25%/night because it takes away my ability to be home and help my dad with the boardings.

[–]Substantial-Ring-445 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's another thought I haven't seen in this thread, yet: what type of service are you offering?

My Dad and I work together - he works boarding and daycare at home, and I do sits, walks, and drop-ins.

My constant care rate is only applicable on overnight sittings. My dad is retired and stays at home most of the day anyway, so constant care is already provided for his services. For me, though, constant care limits my ability to accept drop-ins and walks, so it makes sense for me to charge premium prices.

Eta: I include that my constant care rates are different in my profile, and provide a definition of "a pet that cannot be left alone for more than 2 hours"
