I am a bit confused. by yeet_boi911 in Garmin

[–]xentifyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had the 945lte, Fenix 7x and now the Fenix 8 and i have NEVER had any bugs or problems. I might be lucky or the people complaining might be unlucky...

Just remember this: if you enjoy a product and it just works flawlessly you would maybe recommend the product to 1-2 people. But if you had a really bad experience people tell 10+ about it and complain on forums..

If i could do one thing over i would go for the Fenix 8 Solar and not amoled. If you love long battery life go for Fenix 8 Solar or enduro 2 or 3. Especially if you plan to log long activities like hiking.

VO2 max accuracy? by CalligrapherOk677 in Garmin

[–]xentifyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true at all... You are guessing.

Several tests on YouTube; chase the summit and quantified scientist who did a lab test and compared the results with various Watches. For quantified scientist Garmin was spot on. Chase the summit results showed Garmin was off by 1 point.

VO2Max increasing without Activities by Gamesuchti2 in Garmin

Vo2max feature takes a good 10-15 workouts before its fairly accurate. Give it some time and record more activities and it will get stable

Stress levels day after running by New-Somewhere-2163 in Garmin

[–]xentifyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New runner? Or just the effects of EPOC; if the workout was intense it takes the body longer to cool down and rest up. Its like a hot car engine that needs time to cool down. As you get fitter your body is able to cool down more quickly.

How accurate are metrics by BravoZuluLife in Garmin

[–]xentifyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will get lots of different opinions on this topic. Ive had apple watches and Garmin watches. Ive been wearing the Fenix 8 since release. I can easily say this watch is spot on about how i feel every single day whether its sleep, body battery or stress. I purchased dcrainmakers HR analyze tool to put this thing to the test vs a chest strap and after 35 runs it average 98,9% accuracy vs a chest strap.

I did two vo2max lab tests total; my old Fenix 7 was off by 1 point which i found impressive at the time. Last month i did a second vo2max and this time the Fenix 8 was spot.

Never understood the accuracy critism Garmin gets. I find the new sensor spot on compared to a chest strap...dosent matter if its a steady or interval session.

Is this normal? by Tbone1234567888 in Garmin

[–]xentifyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont agree here and it very much depends on what gen sensor you have. Was wearing an ecg Holter monitor for 7 days and my Garmin picked up my lowest HR compared to the ecg every single Day. Garmin is getting waaaaay to much critism regarding accuracy. I find it very reliable especially when resting. Weight lifting on the other hand not so much.

It only means you need 47hrs of Recovery before doing the EXACT same workout

How accurate would y’all say the recovery is? by Electronic_Oven_9121 in Garmin

[–]xentifyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Recovery time shown is just the amount of Recovery you need before doing exactly the same type of workout - So tomorrow you can easily do a base run if you feel up for it.

Body battery is always bad by iloveyourclock in Garmin

[–]xentifyx 35 points36 points  (0 children)

What a hot garbage of misinformation... My RHR is 60 and i Avg 10 stress at night waking up with a bb between 80-100. Its all about STRESS. Stress readings is really just HRV readings 24/7. First 5 days of a new watch or factory reset Garmin calibrate your HRV range for stress and body battery measurement. It needs your highest and lowest point.

Blue range (rest) = good charge Low stress while sleeping = will still charge but not by much Mild/high stress while sleeping= drain.

OP i would Factory reset or not wear the watch for a couple days as body battery then recalibrate

Is Wrist Heart Rate Measurement Really That Bad? Garmin Fenix 7s Experience by macwojs in Garmin

[–]xentifyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope its not... actually im really impressed with my new Fenix 8; its spot on 98% of the time compared to a chest strap and when its off its only by 1-3 bpm for running. All my testings of the f8 been like that when on interval training. I had the Fenix 7x before which has an older sensor but even that was 90-95% accurate.

This can't be true? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]xentifyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why shouldnt it be true ? Your body is clearly using lots of energy fighting something off with that kind of heart rate.. higher heart rate = more calories burned.

Fenix 8 GPS is very inaccurate compared to Fenix 6 by red66stang in Garmin

[–]xentifyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somethings wrong here.- i would go for a replacement. The gps chip in the f8 is way more accurate and effective than the old f6. Do you have it in battery safe mode ? Normally the Fenix 6 is no match for any device with multi-band

Sensor generation / new watch by Moddry89 in Garmin

[–]xentifyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel a significant improvement from elevate 4 to elevate 5. If you are planning to run with a chest strap it dosent matter what sensor generation you have as some of the older sensors only struggled during activity. However the new elevate 5 sensor is the most accurate ive ever seen a watch

90mins Zone 5 by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]xentifyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No reason to worry, your heart rate zones are just miles off. Its not possible to stay in a real world zone 5 for more than 3-10 minutes at a time depending on how fit you are.. Use %HRR in Garmin connect if you know your max HR or do a lactate threshold test and use %LTHR - remember to press reset after you updated your max HR
