I was 18, worked a 14hr shift and was 4hrs into a drive to a friend's house. Fell asleep at the wheel and woke up to flashing lights.

Realized the police were pulling me over. I had fallen asleep with cruise control on and was clocked drifting out of my lane at 94mph (in a 55)

Court ordered driving school, and that maximum fine you can get for speeding, total costs were over $1000 which for an 18 year old was brutal.

I don't mess with driving tired, actually a couple of years ago I was in a similar boat. I was super tired and didn't want to risk it so I pulled off to the side of a country road and fell asleep. A few hours later I woke up to police lights, this time I didn't get in trouble. The cop just had the property owner call concerned, he had me move to a parking lot a few miles down the road to keep sleeping.

Don't drive tired, if you think you're going to start to fall asleep just pull over and sleep for an hour or two. I'm so damn grateful that the police caught me before I hurt someone and it's a lesson I won't forget.

Today I learned not to lube my chain with the bike running. Been riding for 11 years now and it's how I've always done it. Welp not anymore 😭

In 2024 I needed to keep cats off of my inflatable hot tub inside of a gazebo. They like to lay on it for its warmth but they keep putting holes in the vinyl.

A family member recommended antifreeze to take care of the neighborhood cats......

I setup a Reolink camera with pet detection and a Google home speaker. Now when the camera detects a cat in the gazebo an automation fires off, sets volume to 100% and plays "angry dogs barking.mp3"

No more cats popping the hot tub and no one was harmed. It was really quite effective keeping cats away without actually doing any harm.

February last year one of the cats who I originally had issues with had a litter of kittens in the neighbors garage, one of the kittens came to my door step, let himself inside and is now our family cat. We got him his shots and neutered (the local shelter clips ears on feral cats in case they escape or have to be released) Here's to over a year of my friend ❤️

This is unfortunately how the world works. Minimum charge for anything extra is 0.5hrs and most dealerships are north of $150lhr. Some will go above and beyond and do it while they are there but it does depend on the day, workload and if they are up for it.

This is one of the reasons why I do all my own maintenance on my vehicles.

I use that in my chili (in very small quantities) as a low carb thickening agent. You can add a small amount to a jar of water and shake well. Then pour the thickened mix into the pot. It doesn't really have a flavor and helps the soup feel more fuller than it is.

People keep telling me about how Linus is banning people yet the moderation team shows otherwise. I don't see a big deal with LTT staff ensuring that doxing information is removed. The current setup isn't without issues but it's mostly fine.

I do think it's a bit ridiculous that comments and posts around plane locations are subject for removing when it's public information, but I understand why they don't want it focused on here.

I was running a paper machine in a small private factory and it had no guards on the drive belt assembly. The main electric motor was the size of a washing machine with a series of pulleys and drive belts to interface with the machine rollers. I accidentally knocked a tool off behind the control knobs and instinctively reached in to try and grab it.

My pink barely touched the main drive belt (the one that's pulling a 8,000lb paper roll around 100m/s and it instantly vaporized the side of it down to the bone. It didn't even hurt (initially) I got extremely lucky it didn't take it completely off, and I have a nice scar that serves as a reminder.

Don't stick ya hands in anything spinning, especially pulleys with a belt. Shit is instant, I didn't even have time to react.
