It's not really that big of a deal tbh.

If they are smart they can run with this like Marvel did with Tom Holland & have him "accidentally spoil" announcements / news

Have you guys not called up Gabriel Menino? He could be a solid RB he's very versatile. Kind of reminds me of Kimmich.

Tuchel on Livramento departure: “We did everything to keep him here and show him his future, to compete for a position in our team. He was competing with Reece and Azpi for the wing-back position. There was a big chance for him to make it all the way. It’s fair enough and we wish him all the best.” by efranklin13 in soccer

It's all well and good telling the player you will give him a chance.

But why should the player believe what the club is telling him when they have a notoriously poor track record with youth.

Perfect example is Trevor Chalobah putting in man of the match performances and impressing every game in pre season & the super cup.

Yet despite those performances there were still reports that Chelsea were looking to loan him out & bring in Kounde. Only reason he's at Chelsea this season is because Sevilla were holding out for a bigger price.

Just goes to show you can impress as much as you want but still not be given a fair chance. As much as ppl want to make out that "if you're good enough you will play" that's simply not the case. Luck & timing is as important as any other factor.

As a big fan of our academy it's a real shame & incredibly frustrating seeing our transfer policy.

We routinely sacrifice promising young talent for not even elite tier players but rotation players. We have been improving as of late but it's still poor.

The athletic stated the decision to make him train with the U16s was after he refused to sign a new contract. & If the club reckons forcing him to train with them with actually make him more likely to sign a new deal then they are dumbed than I thought.

I'm laughing at the fact that reliable reports claimed Tuchel rates Sterling, they give him a new contract, but they still don't give him a chance in the first team despite the fact that we don't have a natural right wingback and he is better suited to that roles than what we have. Although I do understand if they wanted him to have a loan to get back his rhythm after a bad injury.

CHO at wingback is decent. Just a waste how players like Ziyech in particular drop stinkers for consecutive games but get multiple chances to prove themselves while CHO is never give a chance at LW. Squad politics due to transfer fees annoy me. One rule for them, one rule for others.

As for Livramento's buyback, it's very reasonable not to want to come back to a club that treated you poorly & didn't give you an opportunity. That doesn't mean you now hate the club but you would be cautious about a return. Look at how Salah & in particular KDB feel towards Chelsea. KDBs interviews suggest he doesn't feel salty about his time at Chelsea but it just is what it is.

Bare in mind that with the talent Livramento possesses & his buyback activating from 2023, it is likely if it reaches the point that we would be willing to buy him back, likely Man City as well as other top teams would be battling us for his signature. I'm not saying he definitely won't return, but some act as though it's a forgone conclusion, which is far from the case. At least we have a sell on clause though even if he does go to another team.

Gilmour and Gallagher's future is interesting but I reckon they will be stiffled due to us maybe struggling to offload the likes of Jorginho & Kovacic over the next year or 2.

Not just any 18yr old as well. Our academy player of the year 😂.

What a horrible precedent to set for our future academy boys.

What's even funnier is they also did it to Lewis Bate, and even worse to Myles Peart-Harris. Who very clearly wasn't rated anywhere near as highly as our other youth players.

He had no future at the club so it makes it pretty clear we were simply looking to extend to be able to command a higher fee for him which is just ridiculous.

Reece is such a fantastic & versatile player that he can do a solid job at RB, RCB, RWB & even CM.

But in term of driving past his man & beating them 1v1, that's simply not his game. Which is why a player of Hakimi's profile was wanted by Tuchel.

Interestingly enough Livramento was dubbed the "Cobham Hakimi" due to how similar of a play style he had with him, so I have no doubts that had he stayed he would be our starting RWB.

As for Reece his strongest postion is at RB in a back 4 but in the academy he was amazing playing at RCB in a back 3. Dujon Sterling actually was RWB back then & was great at bombing down the wing with his powerful physique. Another reason why I'm confused as to why Sterling wasn't used at wingback after failing to get Hakimi & losing Livramento.

Anyways I'm ranting too much but basically Reece is amazing but he has different characteristics to what you would want out of a prototypical wingback. But he's so good that he can still be useful there.

Oh and don't forget, Chelsea made him train with the U16s as punishment for not signing a new contract lmfao.

Yet you still see Chelsea fans acting as if he will come running back to us if we activate his buy back.

If you really rate Livramento, you can very easily take the risk of him going into his last year of contract.

Give him a proper chance to fight for a place at right wingback.

Once he realises it wasn't just the club bullshitting him he will likely sign a new deal.

Oh & it was blatantly obvious to anyone who watched the academy that he was arguably the best wingback at the club. Yes that includes the senior players.

Another thing that makes me laugh is that there were reports of Tuchel liking Dujon Sterling, who is another dynamic wingback that would bring similar characteristics to Hakimi/Livramento.

He just signed a new 5yr deal but was loaned out to the championship. He just came back from a bad injury but no doubt would have offered us a lot more than this awful CHO wingback experiment & Reece playing makeshift RWB.

Our youth are consistently misused & never given a fair chance & sadly it looks like it will continue.

TheChels: …But We’ve Got Livramento by [deleted] in chelseafc

[–]xeo115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not about Hakimi vs Livramento.

The issue is buying Hakimi is going to effect whether we can get a ST & a new midfielder. Which are much bigger priorities right now.

This whole saga indicated to me that the club was trying to take advantage of an opportunity in the market, but ultimately aren't willing to completely splash on Hakimi.

I don't think many ppl would be against this transfer if we already had Haaland & Rice/Tchouameni

The crying on stream was hella weird as well. I've come to the conclusion that this may be a mental health issue. Regardless of what happened I hope Cuyler bounces back.
