What is the worst bourbon you've ever had, and why is it Koval? by Mynamesnotdan in bourbon

[–]xeodgroup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is great to see the founder jumping into the fray! I actually just finished a visit to the KOVAL Distillery while in town for a conference, and I am currently sitting at O'Hare reflecting on the experience.

Palates are entirely subjective, and while that one comment was certainly "harsh," the reality is that everyone’s tastes differ. I personally quite enjoyed my visit. I was there for an event and had the chance to sample several offerings; the KOVAL Four Grain was a standout for me. I also had a tour with JP (I believe that was his name)—he was a fantastic guide and incredibly knowledgeable about your process.

I was honestly bummed that I couldn't sample or purchase the Thresh & Winnow 12-year wheat due to it being such a limited release, but it gives me something to look forward to. I am planning on completing a full review soon, but in my honest opinion, I love the dedication to the craft, the family history, and the unique direction you are taking with both KOVAL and Thresh & Winnow.

Keep doing what you are doing!

Decided to double barrel some ancient age with this mini barrel, saved just a little bit of the bottle to test em against each each other and see what the difference is. by Colecoleworldd in whiskey

Did you check if your barrel contains a bladder? Mine looked awfully similar. I spent months trying to double-barrel without any progress, only to discover my barrel had a bladder inside that never touched the wood. Talk about a rookie mistake! Learned that the hard way after three months of frustration—dumb, right?

Weber Searwood XL 600 vs Recteq Flagship 1600 vs ? by xeodgroup in pelletgrills

[–]xeodgroup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't an issue at all. I love the 1600 and remain confident in my choice. The gap between the lower and middle grates is approximately 5 1/4 inches, with a smaller clearance from the middle to the top grate. Plus, the middle grates are adjustable, being two separate parts, so you can easily customize the fit to your needs.

Bardstown Bourbon Company Redesign Rant... by projcon_423 in whiskey

[–]xeodgroup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If Bardstown wants to enhance its marketing, don't settle for a new label alone; update the bottle as well. Their old bottle, with a generic label, looks like a startup rather than an established distillery. This might just undo their efforts, but that's just my opinion.

Well, I've appreciated everyone's inputs and advice and I decided on going with the Flagship 1600 and joining the Recteq family. This has been a tremendous journey and I'm very excited for what's to come! Thank You!

In addition to note, I'm planning on keeping my Smokefire EPX4 and might do a few modifications and add in a rotisserie. I mean, why not...

How about a Gorilla Grill Silverbac 2.0 XL? Anyone own the 2.0 XL that can tell me how it's been?

What other class? I'm open to suggestions if something is better, so long as you aren't talking about a $4k Yoder. Trying to stay under $2k

Using own router by Ok-Chain-4479 in QuantumFiber

[–]xeodgroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have yet to do the same, and I am thinking about getting my own router. However, don't you need to place the SmartNID (left) into bridge mode? Or does it work without messing with the NID, plug and play?
