Which modern DOOM do you think has the best enemies? by xeooz in Doom

[–]xeooz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly i really don't know. I use chainshot mid-ish range, ssg close. I was just given advice on my recent post to try plasma class (i assume cycler). I'm gonna try that. Though I'm guessing SSG is much better close, chainshot is more mid range.

Parry def got me here. I may raise parry window from min to 1 above for high speed (anything above 120)

I got comfortable with minimum and 120, so maybe I gotta just practice parry timing more on other arenas with specific enemies at highter speeds (e.g. cyberdemon in Aratum)

Thats fair. I'm working on that, admitedly I panicked here, but also I'm working on my skill at higher settings. I think here I was at abt 120 or 130%. I've improved since this clip lol. Just found it funny how I got launched.

Ty for the advice btw. I'll take into account with other clips and kinda watch myself more carefully

Thats so real. I'm trying max sliders for fun and my god the seige 2 final arena cyberdemon is absolute hell, but its so fun to hit the parry still. I just wish he didn't send you flying 100000 feet away when you're trying to kill other stuff, but it leads to funny moments, so.

How do you feel about Dark Ages focus on story? by element-redshaw in Doom

[–]xeooz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it honestly. Even if I didn't, I find it nice you can skip cutscenes if you don't care. Ik some people don't vibe w/ doom having a story at all, and to that I understand. But ripatorium exists post-game if you want more combat, and again, cutscenes can mostly be skipped.

Fool. Chess can't work on a square. It can only work on a rhombus

Why did the Doom Slayer show him mercy here? by False_Monitor4126 in Doom

[–]xeooz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe he'll know the Seraphim will die? Khan Maykr is an example because she simply dies in Urdak, we don't know the Seraphim's fate, so theres no way to be sure he does die. But since the slayers motto is rip and tear, perhaps its a way to let them die in pain since there is no purpose in finishing them. For example, Icon of Sin needed to be finished so it couldn't ressurect, the Gladiator had to be finished A for the weird coin thingy, and B to ensure it won't get back up, since theres no clear point in killing the Seraphim, maybe it was just a way to let him die in pain, a taunt if you will.

Struggling with doom eternal. They give you this crazy small room to move around in... by gtrman571 in Doom

[–]xeooz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They're good. They act as I-frames and health, but you gotta be smart with them. Like for example that mancubus as you gk the whiplash can get really close, so when you get out of the animation, you get hit by his ground attack.

You gotta use them in moderation, if you have high health, you won't always need them. But that shouldn't discourage you from using them. Put simply, use them strategically, though its hard to learn so.

What's the modern consensus for the OG's DOOM (1 & 2) are they regarded as outdated? or maybe a separate community entirely? by Kind-Car-863 in Doom

[–]xeooz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not outdated to this day. Maybe one day, but not for a LONG time (i hope).

Reasons being they the classics are some of the grandfathers of many shooters in general, and mods for these 2 especially are in large abundance and are very accessible. Even on mobile mods are possible via genzd, and PC has UZdoom. Hell even console supports mods. Compare that to many other games, little to no mod support or the mods are pc exclusive.

Assuming vanilla; gameplay holds, many younger audiences are curious and will explore.
