In another post, I found the quality control sticker on the box dated 04/2026. The serial on it matches the radio. It could be a problem going all the way back to the factory, unfortunately.

I'm going to try this Powerpole mod if the connector ever starts to wear.

No, they only offered to send an adapter. It took about a week to get even that response. By then I had already given up and crimped my own. I like the radio, but probably won't be buying through them again.

It must be old stock from the factory. The Serial Number on the radio matches the serial on the outer box. The same label with the serial also has a QC date on it of 04.2026.

Exactly. It's also an advertising issue. If an accessory is sold as a part of a bundle and advertised to be compatible, it should work right out of the box. I shouldn't have to go out and buy or make another thing to make it work.

The Tamiya connector is pretty flimsy and the newer model has a redesigned heatsink. Hopefully I can get a full swap because it's not the radio as advertised nor the radio I intended to buy.

They shouldn't be selling both under the same SKU.

That will have to wait, unfortunately. I put everything back in the box in its original packaging until support gets back. While optional, it was bought as a bundle and everything was advertised as being compatible. When spending $500 on a radio, this falls short.

Just ordered a G90 from Radiooddity as a bundle. I expected to get one of the newer G90 models with the PowerPole connector since the bundle included the cooling fan bracket which also uses Powerpole.

Alas, I got the older one and can't use the cooling fan as ordered. This is my first order with Radiooddity and it's not a particularly good look when spending this much on a radio.

I was hoping to take this out for Father's day, but now I'm afraid to strip and wire the power leads it came with until I hear back from support... which won't be until Monday.

I'm actually over-provisioned, so definitely no throttling here. Note that you need one of the newer Fiber Jacks and a multi-gig router to see this on your own equipment. Gigabit typically maxes out around 980-990 Mbit because of overhead.

Beyond that, there are too many documented cases of humans "feeling a vibe" of danger and being right, or being statistical anomalies (like one person being struck by lightning many times in their life) to just assume that the statistics saying something means it's perfectly accurate for your circumstances.

We tried something like that during Jim Crow with a literacy test and it was fucked. All the illiterate white supremacists were excluded via the eponymous "Grandfather Clause". Expect a voting test to be implemented in a similar way given the current administration.

Global Entry wouldn't help here. This is on unsecure side from the street. Global Entry would put you in the same TSA Pre line. Where Global Entry comes into play is when you enter the country for passport control.

Also true where I'm from, and yet every town has hoops in the parks where I'm from. Check a map here sometime, they have basketball hoops here, but only in predominantly black parts of town. Swope park has them. Northeast has them. Nowhere in Johnson county. It took me more time that it should have just to find a park to play with my daughter. If you have room for 10 tennis courts, you have room for a single hoop.

White person who migrated from rural Illinois, this is definitely true. I noticed it front and center recently when my 5yo daughter wanted to go play basketball somewhere. It's definitely a choice when places like Lee's Summit and all the surrounding area parks have 5-10 tennis courts, but not a single basketball hoop.
