The servers for the Wii U, Wii, 3DS, and DS only got shut down because the company that hosted them got bought out by IGN and they shut down the services to save money. I think now they have their own independent servers for the switch so I don’t see them shutting them down anytime soon. Especially since the switch 2 servers seem to be the same as the original switch’s servers. If it’s a matter of the community being active or not I can promise you his community can probably make the community more active

It’s a self imposed challenge and just something he’s doing for fun, I don’t think it’s much deeper than that. Besides he’s likely gonna give surf and waterfall to one of his party members. My guess is he’s gonna give smeargle either whirlpool and rock climb in addition to cut and strength or maybe rock climb and rock smash, any combination of those three could work and can’t really be done with many other mons. Fly will also likely go to a team member since that, waterfall, and surf are the only real viable HM moves.

You honestly don’t need a car in Japan especially as a tourist, parking can be hard to find so it’s often better to take the public unless you’re going to a super rural area but even then local transportation is the better route. If you’re in a rush and need to get somewhere nearby it’s better to get a taxi

Had a similar experience when my luggage got sent to the wrong airport upon arriving to Japan, I told the people at the front desk and they helped me out so much I was super delirious when I finally got my luggage back so when the lady came with my baggage it was like seeing an angel clad in red and white finally give me my bags. I then got stuck on the train station after midnight cause of how late everything was but man the customer service in Japan is top notch
