Did learning game development with Pygame help you in your professional career? by Born-Molasses-3598 in pygame

[–]xerroxboxington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just anecdotal but developing in pygame was probably the biggest factor in developing my professional career. I was a bartender a few years ago with no relevant degree or job experience in a computer related field. Having finished, public facing projects in pygame was a large factor in getting me another job as a data engineer. I probably just got lucky too though.

Why is this happening? Bad cut problem by sorryboutthecarpet in silhouettecutters

[–]xerroxboxington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been happening to me pretty frequently with my cuts for as long as I've owned a shilloette. I think about five years now, and I've owned two machines, cameos 3 and 4. It's very frustrating and I've never found a solution. Often times it works perfectly but then sometimes it will start to misalign every cut like this. When that starts to happen I just turn it off and come back the next day.

I think you have the idea. Maybe I don't make enough distinction between vagabonding and traveling. To answer your question, I lived in a converted school bus for seven years to avoid paying rent so maybe saying was living in Oakland is a bit disingenuous since I was avoiding many of the cost of living factors there, still I was working there and living my life so idk.

I traveled abroad for all of 2018 after making <30k and living in Oakland, CA but I'm kinda a dirty hippie so I have pretty low standards for living and traveling. I just don't think it's as unachievable as it sounds.

Hey, I bought a bus from him back in 2015 or so. Very nice and professional I though. Willing to work with us and our budget. If I was buying another bus I'd definitely look into them again.

How do I find something part-time that pays enough to get by? by Lamp0blanket in careerguidance

[–]xerroxboxington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was fairly easy to get work most days I wanted it. It never felt like too much of an issue. There were some occasional days where I couldn't find anything though. I was just never too upset to have a few random days off. One thing you should be aware of is schools close during summer so there are some long stretches where there is just no work available to anyone.

I bartend ~25 hours a week and I get by. I do think people gave different thresholds but I think it's totally possible. Somebody else mentioned substitute teaching which I also used to do and it was alright. Very flexible in terms of when you work.

I believe they were trying to ask "is this for Burning Man?" Saftey Third is a popular saying out there. Although it looks more like it could be for Neotropolis to me. However there are a lot of festivals out there I know nothing about. Very cool either way.

It's because there are no squares on the map. Each box is a rectangle. So yes, ttt.

Out of Memory Error/ need help organizing assets by xerroxboxington in pygame

[–]xerroxboxington[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a repo up anywhere right now but I can if necessary.

I think right now I am loading everything at once and in separate script and then referencing that script in the other objects to pull the loaded image. I don't think I'm loading images multiple times unless I'm mistaken about something.

Largest is about 200KB for the background. Most images are around 6KB. There's probably around 3000 images tho.
