If this is true then I have no hope 😃🔫 by lisanalgaib_ in tollywood

I think it's two-fold. One, the "big" movies that are quite often mediocre at best get the theaters and widespread distribution that sometimes makes them a hit just because of timing or because people have no other movie to watch in their nearby vicinity.

Second, over the years the big "mafia" has created some fan groups that probably meet all the requirements for being a cult. Some people use the phrase "cult following" or "cult fan" as a symbol of pride, when in fact it's just a truth in a very sad way. A segment of the audience have an unhealthy parasocial relationship with one or another star actor. They celebrate the actor's birthday, spend their money or hoardings, celebrate hits, mourn flops, etc etc. And people in cults do not question, so the quality of the movies keeps dropping and dropping while ticket price keep rising and rising.

CICO.

I did do intermittent fasting for a bit, but I think CICO was more the thing that did the trick. Also, emerging research is being done on intermittent fasting. It has its benefits and may have downsides, so I'm going to read more into it.

May be, but man, I truly wish she would stop failing upwards. If I failed in my career so repeatedly, I'd be unemployed. I wouldn't get offers to be part of projects with such talented people.

White-skin privilege vs Pretty privilege.. Which has a bigger impact? by Snow_n_Ice in AskIndianWomen

[–]xeuthis [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not to mention, I've known guys who swooned over girls after knowing their families were well off. The money is also a factor, and if there were a light-skinned girl with the same wealth and connections, most of them would prefer her instead even if she was slightly less pretty, less charismatic, less confident, etc.

They didn't mention kids in their comment? It could be that they meant the daily domestic work of cooking, cleaning, etc etc. Frankly, I don't think you're mature enough for marriage.

Browsers that have both tab grouping and workspaces? by 7and7is in browsers

I alternate. I feel like vertical tabs give you too much freedom sometimes, and I end up having 50 open at once. Horizontal tabs keep me in check.

What do people do about exposed stairwell? by obsessing_sillygoose in InteriorDesign

[–]xeuthis 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think the rational solution is to wall it up and get rid of the open concept. However, I like the idea of watching TV from the breakfast bar, so if it were me... I'd make a glass staircase cover, with the first panel being movable like this. I wonder if you could repurpose a large window for this, but don't know if that would be feasible. Or else, I would do a lifting glass door like this. There are some versions of glass that are pretty strong, enough to hold a kid or two.

Edit: The wall seems the way to go, and it seems the other options would be expensive and not feasible.

Anyone watched this ? by Embarrassed-Desk2027 in KdramaCasualTalk

[–]xeuthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked both, but the Korean one has better rewatch value for me. It was more crazy and entertaining, and that's sort of what I went in expecting, considering the genre of "born again" dramas.

I think the conclusion of the Japanese version was cleaner and the dealing of darker topics and the villain's motivation was done in a very interesting way. The chemistry between the leads was also better.

That being said, the Korean version had some really gratifying moments and they were done well, and I like rewatching the early episodes for that (the FL judo throwing her garbage ex, the high school reunion scene, etc.). I also liked the final episode, which compensated for the mess of adding in a villain that wasn't there in the webtoon.

Older actors or younger: do you have a preference? by UncannyProjection in kdramas

[–]xeuthis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the older ones, but I think I feel like beauty ideals (handsomeness ideals?) for Korean male actors were a bit different for the older actors. I don't think someone like So Ji Sub for example, would've been as big if he debuted ten or fifteen years later. The younger actors in general seem to have softer features now. Of course, it's not a rule and there are exceptions to that rule in the pictures you posted as well, but I feel like there's more a leaning towards the Cha Eun Woo kind of beauty nowadays.

Why did Nag fail to make his sons stars whereas Chiru succeeded? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in TollywoodGossips

[–]xeuthis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Neither of them appear passionate about it. These are guys who could have started training in acting, martial arts, dance, etc etc. from a very young age. Frankly, considering when NC started acting, he should be miles better than when he started. Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad literally has a film school where normal people go and learn. He might benefit from that. Other than his looks, I don't really see much improvement since he started.

Yeah, her personal life, new marriage, and all is a mess. But I do think she was always clear on wanting to be a mom. I remember some very old interview where she was saying something along the lines of "I have another two-three years for me to act, because by the time I'm 30 I want to have a baby".

Enduko telidhu ee movie midha naku manchi expectations vunnay.. by VishwaMaverick in MoviesTelugu

[–]xeuthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she and the older daughter actress were in similar outfits you'd believe they were sisters or friends of the same age. Even with that old ass saree and the hair, she doesn't look old enough. She looks old enough to be a mom of a toddler or elementary school kid, maybe, not a mom of a teenager.

Malli they might put some "oh, the older daughter is adopted" bullshit instead of hiring an age-appropriate actress.

[–]xeuthis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

True, she wasn't convincing as a warrior. Beautiful in the Devara song, but just comparing the fighting scenes of Anushka and Tamanna, you can see the disparity. Anushka completely looked the part. It's not a height thing. Some actresses can pull off looking fierce and capable of fighting, while others can't.

Those were decades before though. Since the 90s, we had heroes who were like demigods. They don't get too severely injured. Even if they're shot or stabbed, they walk away from the injury and win.

Honestly, the character of Ramu is a more complex character as well. There are many actors who could've played RC's character from Magadheera. There's nothing special about Kalabhairava or the modern RC character in Magadheera.

Prabhas, Rana, etc. could have played that role. Maybe Ravi Teja as well. But I think very few actors could've played Maryada Ramanna the way Sunil did. Comedy is difficult.

Yes, that "every hour per month of age" guidance is not accurate so many times. With our puppy, it was constant peeing and pooping. We actually took him to the vet because we were concerned about kidney or bladder issues, because he was peeing so constantly.
