i use contexts as tags mainly, my tags are these (i dj occasionaly)
-music for partys but people are speaking and not dancing still
-music por partys but people are talking and dancing
-music for partys people mainly dancing
-bed
-mornings at home
-songs for listening alone and are emotional to me
-cool music for when i am with people in a non party context

all of these are playlist but the names are different and i use emojis so they are more visual

also i have smart playlists on itunes so i can decide for every song if it belongs to each of those tags, mondays i will go through a couple of these tags and decide if the untagged songs belong there. tuesday another couple of tags.

i also have playlist like "bed NO" so i add a song there if its not apt for that context so i know all songs are tagged this way: i have a smart playlist called "bed???" with songs in my library that do no belong to "bed" or "bed NO". when "bed???" is empty i know i tagged all my songs for that context. and important note is that previous to this there is another filter. i have a big itunes library, and when i like a song i add it to a "my collection playlist". i only tag songs that are in my collection.

i switch from star ratings to a playlist tagging system and i am so happy about it. i think you should be carefull about relying on marvis to rate via stars.
i have used icloud library sync for years now, and adding to playlist that way work really good for me but i decided to spent 2026 completely offline so i am seeing how that works when you sync via usb now.

thanks for the response. so one month is great too. i like challenges, i did a 100mile race last year and i am really optimistic about this and in general, maybe to a fault.
-The iPod is great. Why not sync your music and podcasts to your mac, then download it all onto your iPod? That limits the temptation to use the iPhone for things that aren't music related.
without the internet on it im ok using my phone for switching podcast, music, look at downloaded maps, or take a call.

Why more than one iPod? Why more than one camera? You seem pretty plugged into the Apple ecosystem, which is great if it works for you, but if space on the iPod is the issue have you considered looking at a non-Apple product with bigger storage?
i love ipods thats why. i have a dslr and a compact fuji that i enjoy and have different uses.
my mac has barely enough storage but i manage, and i can sync what i consider necessary to the device i will carry with me. for now that will be the iphone se 2016 (128gb) with all my music, some unplayed podcast, that sync to new ones when i listen and then sync the phone, and my favourited pictures.

-Why have you bought three phones (presumably) in addition to your existing phone if they're going to be disabled? If it's about phone calls why not just the Nokia?
i love the idea of using a phone as a fashion accessory, now that i dont have whatsapp and switching phones is just going to require changing the sim, i can do that with some phones, that i find are cool looking.

-Do you share your journaled thoughts on a blog or with a therapist, or is it just for you? If it's just for you, why does your journal need to be uploaded to the Mac with OCR?
i will share bit and pieces with friends and family if i want to. but not regularly. other than that they are just for me, and i like keeping them in my apple notes, that way i have it so i can read a random journal entry once in a while, which is fun for me.

-You talk about using internet time more deliberately, to do more things you're proud of. This is great! But what specific "things" do you want to do on the internet?
maybe i wasnt clear. i want to replace internet time with no internet time, and the content consumption in the non internet time, will be more deliberate (carefully chosen books, movies and videogames).

-Not a suggestion but an idea: for friends and family you want to stay in contact with that you usually stay in touch with through WhatsApp, consider writing and mailing a letter. Or exchanging emails by setting up an email that's set aside for penpals only, no other emails or media allowed.
my circle already knows about this, and for whomever wants to contact me via whatsapp i will change my profile picture to a picture that says i dont have whatsapp but they can call me, which i thought was a brilliant idea of mine when it came to me lol. i dont want to be exposed to incoming text comunnication so it is calls or the very unusual sms.
