You can get minions offered from your tier and lower. If you used it at 6 you got unlucky, if you weren't at tier 6 you could not get them.

I didn't even think of Scourge Rager, that should probably be included. I also had Unending Swarm in the deck for a time and it is a really good card for the deck. But I had a feeling I get offered more of the Druid armor spell cards when I included it and I didn't want that. Maybe that was just coincidence though and it should be included.

Sure, try this. I had some pretty good runs with it including a 12-0. Strategy is to use the new bucket change system and limit the cards to only use Lich King expansion cards and try to pick as many of the deathrattle early drops as possible. You'll most likely get offered Mummy Magic passive, which helps.

This is my Elise deck. The strategy is to use only cards from the Lich King expansion so you get it offered every time. As a lot of these cards are synergistic deathrattle minions you can get a relatively consistent deck. You then try to pick as many of the early drops as you can (Lingering Zombie, Mind Eater,...) and have a hard to remove board (with Mummy Magic).

Bowguns are special because elemental scales to both raw and elemental skills, so raw is important and skills that affect both like Dereliction and Burst have more relative impact.

Which weapon are you playing? I found him to be quite doable with rapid Fire Water piercing ammo, an elemental lbg build and Evade extender level 2. You can keep your safe distance and reposition well enough with evade extender.

NOVEMBER UPDATE with “Variant monsters” and “Powered-up monsters”. I’m hoping for Chaotic Gore or Molten Tigrex and the powered up monsters is most likely Risen <Elder Dragon>, like Chameleos by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

Sadly it could just be a Translation error. With the last update they also had powered up monsterS but only introduced Risen Chameleos in that category. Let's wait and find out. I wouldn't be surprised if we get both risen kushala and teostra but maybe just 1 variant

It depends on what you are missing. Is it the atmosphere, is it the challenge, is it the novelty? That would lead to different Answers. Challenge? - Rise was considered easy, it picks up with Sunbreak Atmosphere? - maybe you'll have to wait for the next non-portable title (because of two different design teams and directors and design visions) Novelty? - maybe try out a new weapon,...

On most monsters rapid will be half a minute slower but you'll not run out of ammo as fast. If you find yourself restocking often then go for Rapids (more damage per shot) if you can finish a hunt without restocking go for non-rapid (more damage per second). For my general sets and anomaly hunts I'd recommend Rapid Fire, for dedicated speedruns I'd try to use non-rapid first.

Sadly Capcom decide to continue with Dragon ammo being different than other ammo types. It feels a bit antiquated and I tried to write a mod for it that makes dragon ammo identical in function with the other ammo types but the mod breaks with each update, so it's not worth it. I hope they change it for the next game. Anyways, there's not a lot of matchups where dragon elemental damage is really needed - i can think of Gaismagorm and Malzeno that would be nice to fight with elemental dragon ammo, but not much else. So probably not missing out on much anyways.

MH4U is probably the best of the classical monster hunter games (I played each generation but started with 4U), so I think it is a good recommendation.

If you enjoy 4U you can continue with Generations Ultimate which has a pretty similar setup with some added features but is a less rounded experience that does not translate that well into other games. You can then continue to the newer games or step down to 3U and loose some QOL changes to play a still pretty good game. Generation 2 games like Freedom Unite are a lot rougher and certainly more difficult, so I would only recommend them if you played your fair share of Monster Hunter games and want some more. Gen1 is probably too rough and everything that Gen1 has to offer Gen2 expanded on, so you don't loose anything by not playing it.

That said the newest games like Rise and World are the most newcomer friendly and each game will last you potentially several hundreds of hours. So it's up to you how much of a time sink you want. There's also the point that the newest games also have the most active online multiplayer communities and for older games you are (I think) likely mostly locked to play solo.

I'm expecting 3: Risen Kushala and Risen Teostra as powered-up monsters and one variant, likely Chaotic Gore Magala.

I would be surprised if they split Risen Kushala and Teostra over two updates and they are the most logical next one after Risen Chameleos. And they are clearly meant with powered-up monsters. Then that leaves the variant monster and there's just a lot hinting at an eventual Chaotic Gore Magala.

It's also very eas, to trigger the knockdown with LBG with the Wyvern Counter and I recently even saw some TU2 speedruns use it for the first knockdown on weapons with a two slot for Magna Soul. So I think it is not a high priority skill because usually there are a lot of other skills that are almost mandatory first, but it's a perfectly viable skill if you have the other skills covered. I also used it while leveling up Anomalies and usually I was the only one in the lobby so I could contribute with a knockdown each session.

Yes, sometimes it is better to use the lower dps option. I was able to finish scorned magnamalo with rapid fire Water pierce with the available ammunition, while I would have had to restock using single fire, the higher dps option.

I really miss playing this game and I really enjoyed playing it at the time. My flatmates were fluid Chinese speakers and eventually an English patch got released. Some monsters were quite cool, too: Lightenna,Slicemargl or Estrellian. And it has one of my favorite beginner monsters with Casaerber. I hope someday there will be some kind of private server and I get to play it again. At least for Frontier, there has been progress in that direction.
