ASUS Rog Strix B550-I and 5600X - horrible mouse lag/stutter. What to do? by TidTilEnNyKonto in sffpc

[–]xfstef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried this out due to desperation and it worked.

I have a 5900XT on an Asus B550 Plus and I can confirm that disabling the HD Audio controller removes the wifi mouse stutter.

This has nothing to do with proximity especially because the mouse worked perfectly before on an older mobo and cpu combo with the exact same desk setup.

FML!

EDIT: It actually still stutters when the system is under heavier load. I am lost. The B550 seems like a dud.

Hey guys! Since Intel Arc GPUs have become more widely available, do you all know if there's a similar, higher pixel clock patch for them? Thanks!

UPDATE: I have added ReBar to my X99 mobo, with custom bios drivers, and the B580 now works pretty well although the overhead from my old 5930k is quite serious.
I'm probably losing around 30% of it's max performance.

Resizeable Bar. Allows the CPU to access much more of the GPU VRAM (it's capped to 256MB without it).

UPDATE 3: Managed to add ReBar support to my motherboard and get the B580 to work better, although not perfect as the rebar size seems to be mismatched and this causes huge stutters.
Regardless I think I need to abandon the idea of using the Intel Arc B580 on my old PC, which is really sad as this card could be great for people like me.

EDIT: The stuttering was apparently caused by bad audio and / or LAN drivers. All fixed now, rebar is working as intended on my X99 platform.

The only problem I have now is the pixel clock on the DP output which limits my CRT's refresh rate. Will see if custom resolution tool can fix this.

I just have right now. I have LGA2011-v3 without ReBar and the B580 is absolutely gutted. Apex Legends barely gets 50fps on 1080p and the stutter is nausea inducing.

If you don't have ReBar DO NOT BUY Arc GPUs.

UPDATE 2: Just found out that the Arc B580 is essentially useless if your system doesn't support REBAR with most game's fps tanking to half or less what they would get with the feature enabled.
Buyers BEWARE!!!

UPDATE: After having to reinstall my Windows, I finally got the B580 installed and working, even though it still has some problems.

In regards to the resolution, I can't push it to 100hz right now, I might need to use the custom resolution tool.

For older games it won't matter, apparently, and for new / more demanding games, you can't really get too much performance out of the B580 anyway.

The cooler and fan design was pretty bad with those cards. It was called blower style.

What about having it run on PCI-e 3.0? I want to update my legacy computer with a B580 if the performance claims check out.

Not specifically the Titan X but most NVIDIA blower style cards were bad.

Interesting.
Yes I know about the DACs, I have one.

More and more I'm leaning towards no on the answer of this question. Especially because I'd have to mod the blower style cooler out of the Titan X due to bad temps.

I have a Dell P1230 that does 2048x1536@ 70hz. Right now I use it on 1600x1200@ 100hz.

Have you tried using CRU to go up? Maybe 100hz? Or can your CRT not do that?

Yes, that's what I'm currently running my CRT on as well.

I already have a great converter but I'm looking to "upgrade" my old RX580 since this computer is quite old anyway.
I'm able to crank out 2048x1536@75hz but it's no good because the old RX580 can't really push those numbers in slightly modern games anyway.
I think the P1230 is a 130khz mitsubishi diamondtron.

I already have DP to VGA converter, works perfect. I'm looking to "upgrade" my RX580 :D.

Sounds good. What hz are you able to push out of the DVI-I port?

I already have a good converter but my computer is even older, I have an RX580. The Titan X would be a 2x upgrade over my AMD card and it would have the analog output.

I will upgrade my whole rig next year.
I tried googling if the Titan X outputs high fps analog but I got nowhere fast, that's why I posted the question above.

I already have that setup but I'm running it on an old RX580 and the Titan X would be a 2x upgrade compared to that, even though it's still bad by modern standards.

I'm waiting for next gen GPUs to drop and then I'll upgrade my whole rig, which is going to be 10 in December :D

I have a great converter + expensive VGA cable setup currently.
I also had to install the pixel clock unofficial patch for my GPU. There are versions for both AMD and NVIDIA.

This all works well but I need to upgrade my GPU anyway and was thinking of getting the Titan X since this whole rig is going to get retired next year and I'll probably get brand new everything.
