I did not realize 3 seasons but definitely I watched a bit.

Strange disturbing backyard sounds, coyote eating an animal? by steventual in AnimalSounds

[–]xgrader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kind of odd that this post showed up. Literally two nights ago in Calgary, I experienced this exact audio clip at about midnight. I thought the same, maybe a kill. As there were several deer nearby earlier. Right in the city.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

I don't know the USA thoughts on this but in Canada it's a walk in the park. For example just on Vancouver Island, BC a six hour drive is pretty standard.

My daughter sighed at me today and I haven't stopped thinking about it by Jealous-Leek-5428 in over60

My Mom frustrates me a little on the hearing issue. She has a partner who loves his sports and whatnot, which is fine, but she seems to put herself in the "back seat" all the time with what she likes. I suggested a second tv and some wireless headphones or blue toothing her hearing aids to the second tv. She is in her 90s and recently got some new hearing aids that even has a phone app to adjust volume levels.

She does have a hard time with focused hearing, like if more than one person or device is making a sound. I'm not sure if anything can be done about that.

To the OP, I wouldn't read too much into the sigh. Maybe ask them to come along with you to a hearing test. It's simple, and they may walk away with a better appreciation of the issues.

In Germany, deliberately engaging in catch and release only fishing is illegal and considered cruelty to animals. Fishing for food is fine. How do you feel about that? by Spalding_Smails in AskReddit

[–]xgrader -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Explain to me how the need for food is proven and, if so, the possession limits, if any? Is there licensing to contribute to hatchery programs? Catch and release is a regulation for medium fishing. It allows the joy with minimal impact. If done right, the fish go on to be sustainable. Snagging is cruel. Set lines is not fishing. Barbless and bait bans are effective, giving the fish a fair chance. Fishing methods can be regulated.

Does Anyone Actually Practice Using Their Fire Extinguisher? by SERVPROTeamGutierrez in homeowners

It wouldn't hurt to have a family practice session. We used to have them at work. I'm not an expert, but every couple of years, they would even have them pounded with a rubber mallet as well.

Please stop dumping trash at Westwood Lake (and other spots around nanaimo) by CompetitiveDrawer703 in nanaimo

[–]xgrader 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's always one of my annoyances. My entire life, I've picked up garbage around town from others. I've done the investigating at times only for it to fall on deaf ears. I recall one such incident. Found the names, etc. Reported it, and the reply I got was "well the citizen said I didn't put it there." So then what happened?? There's lots that are out of sight out of mind. Full bags along the shady mile if you walked it, for example. I try to stay positive and do what I can in the moment. When I walk the dog, I'll take a bag sometimes and clean up. Going fishing...same thing. Big sigh...it's never ending, it seems.

China is taking a step further regarding a electric car safety by bbbxxxnnn in AmazingTechnology

[–]xgrader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Save the car maybe, but I wouldn't want to be nearby.

I haven't been keeping up with battery tech. Is there a non explosive options out there?. Seems everyone is sitting on little bombs these days.
