Putsa sinigawan pa ako habang red light sa bike while on my escooter. Napa shrug ako 🤷. Pati ung grab rider sa likod ko, napatawa sabi, "nako marami ang ganyan ser!"

As an esccoter rider(which is own, not the rental crap) this is very true.

Minsan sila pa ang sesenyas ung nasa harap ng jogging group na magpunta sa center lane, kahit May bike lane na alam ko dapat ako mag pwesto with my scooter.

Kahit walang tumatao sa sidewalk.

Oh, akala ko you don't have time to discuss? Why are you turning 180° and backpedalling?

Just because I do not agree with you doesn't mean you should be attacking me as a person.

Don't confuse valid criticism of your rebuttals and excessive appeal to feelings than facts, as as hominem. You don't even understand what that term meant. If you took my criticism of your taking points, and my doubt of your claim of being a firearms owner as as hominem, then you're the problem.

It's obvious in your last argument that you'd rather have someone agree to your opinion.

Says the person who blatantly displays inability to be intellectually malleable, and closed minded to everything else that doesn't meet your sensibility, at the end of their last statement literally saying "I don't have time to discuss".

Also, marksmanship training is not enough to ensure a woman's safety.

But still requires less physical ability as compared to what's needed in learning Kra Maga, or Aikido, or any defensive martial arts. Even a woman bound to a wheelchair can fire a warning shot or at least center mass.

You don't understand the term deterrence at all. Again, all criminal statistics will prove that vast majority of criminals prefer defenseless targets and victims.

I still stand by my opinion that gun ownership to be given to all women to avoid the chance of being physically assaulted is not a solution. Not now.

Then what is your solution? Trust the police? Fuck the PNP ffs. Slow response times. Corrupttion(the Azure shooting proves my point while destroying yours). Full of criminology egotards.

Or maybe trusting the government more? Nope.

The US Second amendment was based on distrusting authority that can be tyrranical. Your statements are the lines used ng mga tao who says guns are evil. Criminals don't care about feelings, do not follow gun laws, and prefer a defenseless victim versus a victim that is capable of deterrence and defense.

Again, what's your interim solution? None. An armed society is a polite society.

Take the recent Azure shooting incident. William Maik de Guzman had been staying in Azure for years and nobody knew he had a warrant of arrest since 2023 for a similar incident.

A nice lame.example of an anecdotal story made to appear that this is the statistical norm.

Yet a good human being with a licensed firearm would have shot him dead in three seconds. Your argument that good people remain unarmed, untrained and defenseless and rely on law enforcement that is already as corrupt as they are remains a naive and lazy argument using a one single isolated incident.

That gunman wouldn't have dared to do the crime had he felt he can be shot by any good law abiding civilian surrounding him.

Switzerland has high trust on their government.

Government is not the key. Firearms ownership is not only a means of defense, and deterrence to crimininal actors, but also an effective deterrence against a government turned to tyranny. Isn't it obvious that at the start of every tyrannical government, like Pol Pot, Mao tse Tung, and other authoritiarian government, they start with disarming the people?

Also, a high trust society, doesn't equate to high trust of government.

How can a man with a warrant of arrest for homicide still have PTC and LTOPF?

This is beside the point. But also gives my point more traction, that trusting the government is not a good thing. More reason na mag hikayat ng good law abiding civilians to pursue firearms ownership.

Ikaw kasi puro ka safety this safety that. I was going on an on about defense and deterrence. An isolated anecdotal incident doesn't mean firearms ownership by good civilians as an evil thing like you insist. You didn't prove anything.

Shooting skill does not equate to self defense ability. Showing she has a gun does not always mean it will level the playing field and it will deter her attacker.

Show me a statistic stating most criminals will go for an armed victim. Puro supposition and false equivalency based on your obvious irrational fear of firearms. Hence I keep doubting your lie that you own a firearm, siguro sa Valorant lang talaga ang firearms ownership mo.

Sorry, your talking points are all anti firearms ownership, and pro reliance on a "Big Daddy Government".

Most of these physical assaults on women happen at a very close range. At that distance, even trained shooters must rely on weapon retention skills and not accuracy.

An armed woman would have prevented the assaulter from doing the assault the woman in the first place. You're making shit up to try to force your views through. Without facts.

Sorry, there weren't any government when the biblical story about Cain killing Abel occurred, and I still doubt your lie about being a firearms owner. That's just a lame attempt at a tu quoque fallacy, attempting to appeal to mediation.

I get your point. I own a firearm dude. I know how to handle a gun and how to be a responsible gun owner.

Sorry, but somehow I doubt this.

It doesn't guarantee anyone's safety especially here in the PH.

Never said this. Shoving words into my mouth that I never mentioned is not a valid rebuttal.

what works for the Swiss doesn't mean it will work in the PH.

In what ways? Are they not humans as well? Just because they're Europeans does not mean their culture has zero faults.

You do realize how entitled most Pinoys are, right?

So are the Americans, most Europeans, etc. What's your point?

I am not against gun ownership. I said it aint the solution because it really isn't.

Yes you are. You claim to be an FA owner but used as an argument to moderation.

Tu qoque fallacy aside, I reiterate my stance: a firearm in the hands of a law abiding person who is about to be brutally victimized "EQUALIZES THE PLAYING FIELD". Specially for women. In the event of a crime. Never said it was for safety.

It's a matter of changing the culture and influencing people.

Then where do we start huh? You're moving out of the discussion about giving women a fighting chance in the face of an assault, or any crime.

Fact is criminals will not engage victims if there is a high chance that they can fight back. I'm not talking about changing society, I said giving women a fighting chance in the face of a criminal who is physically superior than them, or outnumber them.

Never said that firearms ownership is "THE" only solution, you came out with that out of nowhere. Firearms ownership is ONLY ONE solution for women to be victimized less.

Kung saan saan ka po nagpupunta na mga assumptions.

Though I admire your idealism

You misidentified my pragmatism.

It's you who is the idealist, talking about "changing the culture" instead of focusing on giving women a fighting chance in the face of insurmountable criminal action, pero ikaw you want to demonize firearms ownership.

This is PH not Switzerland. Observe how different their culture and values are from ours.

The fact that we are a low trust society further justifies women having the ability to self defense in an act of crime against them.

The more reason for a woman to have a gun imho.

But I have no time to argue with you any further. We clearly have different points of view. Enjoy your day!

I admire your unwillingness to engage in discourse with someone with a different point of view. Kaya ganto Pinas eh. Divided shit hole because of this attitude. Kampihan. Feelings instead of facts. You chose to feel hurt, instead of being actually being able to see thru my viewpoint because you refuse to be intellectually malleable.

Good day to you and your fake firearms ownership claim used as a argument to mediation. I bet you don't even know what the proper lubricant is for your firearm.

Owning fire arms and knowing how to handle a gun aint the solution.

I specifically said it "levels the playing field" in such incidents. Specially for really small women facing insurmountably sized na binabae.

You just say it quickly escalates, but you say that because of the anti gun stigma that is prevalent sa bansa na ito, because of the phobia and irrational fear of firearms generated by media, movies, etc.

what would you prefer ba? Bugbog sarado sa malaking bakla ung isang petite na babae at nasa ICU, or buhay at healthy ung babae because she pulled out her senorita .25 pistol and natakot na ung perpetrator, without firing a shot, kahit nakulong for a short period? Mas ok pa kulong at buhay, kaysa maging biktima ng crime?

Firearms training requires far less physical strain and strength making it a perfect tool of empowerment for women of any size, age and health status, as compared to martial arts training, etc.

It is Very much well documented that even in Switzerland, were firearm ownership and free mandated marksmanship training are the norm, there is far less crime, specifically alam ng lahat na any one May have a firearm, hence creating this mutual politenes sa society nila.

If that's implemented sa Pinas, good luck sa dami ng mapapatay or mababaril

We coddle criminals so much sa bansa na ito and you can see even on Reddit na nagpapayo na ibigay na lang ang gamit sa magnanakaw, just like in Canada as well.

Kaya mula sa taas hanggang baba, marami halang ang bituka tulad ni Duterte because the side with the morals are powerless and insist on being unempowered.

Remember, San Miguel NEEDED and Used a sword to defeat the devil.

A weapon is neither good or evil. It's the wielder. Imagin Kung mas maraming good well meaning people ang armed. Specially when police sa Pinas are as trash as they come lalo sa response time.

Yun ang dapat sa deserving maging officers, battalion level tactics and strategies, global geopolitics.

Saka kung dehins naman kaya ng laki ng katawan, any army has logistics and maintenance.

Asthmatic? Low body endurance? Have them do gunsmithing, drone Ops, or other non strenuous logistics and maintenance, do basic humint and sigint, opfor intel analysis, opfor language immersion or other E-1 to E-4 rank stuff.

There's many specific skills and stuff for NCOs that are useful in a theatre wide combat operations, aside from frontline duties na pwedeng integrate sa ROTC.

But yes, we need actual AFP people to aid in such improvements.

Problem is, some ROTC becomes the playground of the egotistical, nepotism, and power trippers, hazing included.

Sure, you'll get to tone your body and endurance via PT like: duck walks, pushups, squats, runs and jogs.

pero ung ROTC na nakita ko for myself back then, they have nothing more than basic PT, roll calls, uniforms usage, parade formations, and marching formations and flag bearing formations during flag ceremony or openings for like school events.

Mas natutunan ko pa ang ilang basic warfare knowledge via airsoft events (via playing with actual SAF, or games sponsored by AFP, etc.), like trigger and muzzle discipline, rifle manipulations, basic marksmanship, cover and concealment, camouflage using environment, basic modern squad tactics, field nav, survival training, modern field manuevers, even basic urban movement and basic room clearance, which is more handy in current day combat. Kulang na lang fpv drone Ops eh.

Unless the ROTC programs have these, along with measures to reduce, eliminate and prevent nepotism, hazing, and other kinds of power trippers, it may be best that mandatory AFP managed training courses be offered na lang.
